SUDAN REJECTS RESOLUTION

The Sudanese government has rejected the UN resolution which threatened to take action unless the country disarms and prosecutes militia within 30 days.

At least 30,000 people have been killed, one million have been driven from their homes and two million are in need of food and medicine.

The US Congress has called the situation "genocide".

So far, the world has donated only half the $350m dollars wanted by the UN to ease the suffering of people in the Darfur region of the African country.

The crisis in Sudan came to the world's attention several weeks ago, but sufficient aid is failing to get through to assist the thousands of people suffering.

Sky's Stuart Ramsay saw for himself that aid workers on the ground in Darfur are feeling frustrated by the situation.

One told him: "It's an enormous scale, there are people out there we can't reach, there are not enough people dealing with the situation."

There is considerable suffering in the camps, with many children ill or dying.

A camp such as Kilma is so large that nobody knows how many people are there, with some estimates putting the figure at 85,000 and growing all the time.

There is concern over how the relief effort is being organised, with Kilma 80% short of its food targets, as well as having little clean water or suitable toilet facilities.

A 15-month conflict has seen large numbers of people displaced following atrocities committed by Arab-backed militia against civilians in the western Darfur region.

1. bathory it looks as though its only us who are considering goin in . One thing about our Lads is they will NEVER run away. Check the story of thye Red Caps who defended their post in absolutley hopeless conditions to the LAST man agains HUNDREDS of Iraqis in basra, there were only 6 of them. They did it because they didnt receive orders to withdraw even though they had a chance to escape. true steel.

Wether you stated it in jest or not its an insult to the like of the memory of these guys. Comments like that p*** me off.

2. We;re not being lied to about why we're going in.

Anbefore you say "please give me proof we were lied to " check my prime ministers speech before the outbreak of the war.

Well bathory you have proven yourself to be a true master of sarcasim.

Ive said it many times if the same reasons had been put to me for goin to Iraq as Sudan id be busy fighting here on your side, i know you dont believe me but its true. I detested the anti-war protesters before i realised id been duped an id been so naive to actually think bush wasnt quite as bad as hed been made out to be..
