At the end of the day it's the OP's  responsibility to take care of their own health, and it is not the responsibility of anyone here to medically make diagnosis for them.


Being that the forum is called unexplained mysteries, it is assumed that a person has chosen to post here under their own free will to get information and discussion from a perspective that fits the general topic of the site.  If they wanted to talk about their mental health, i imagine they would participate in mental health forum, which we are not. There is only so many times a person can say 'go see a dr'  before the discussion stalls....and the OP has the right as much as anyone else to chose which lines of discussion they wish to engage with.  There is no point getting frustrated or intolerant towards the OP or others who are perusing a different line of discussion along side medical ones as everyone's contributions are valued, so bear that in mind.

But there is a moral responsibility to treat a person as a human being and give them advice that will most likely help them. I was taught to recognize the symptoms of schizophrenia. When a person is complaining of those symptoms, we were taught not to treat their delusions as factual since that only intensifies the condition and encourages them to avoid treatment. These symptoms can overlap what people might believe to be paranormal experiences but when someone believes insects are spying on them, this goes beyond paranormal.

In three months I saw over a hundred people admitted with schizophrenic symptoms. Only a tiny percentage of these people actually felt they had mental health issues and I don't recall a single one that didn't go through the initial diagnosis stages (I wasn't involved in the later stages).

If someone comes here complaining of chest pains and believe they are possessed, I would also tell them to see a doctor.

But also bear in mind that if that person does happen to be schizophrenic, this paranormal discussion is encouraging them to not seek treatment. You are effectively treating their condition as a form of entertainment.

If the person says they've been checked and have no mental health issues, then I would totally agree that their mental health should not be a issue.

Here's what it did make be able to do: admit patients, interview them, identify their symptoms, determine if they posed a danger to themselves or someone else, and recommend whether they should see a doctor at the hospital. That's what they trained me to do and that's what they paid me to do.  

If someone came in saying that they believe insects are spying on them and they had not previously had their mental health evaluated, I would have recommended that they be admitted for a examination. There isn't a single professional in mental health who would disagree with this.

But saying that they might be schizophrenic might very well help them just as I helped the people who came to the hospital suffering from mental illnesses.

you need to find a good medium, he or she could tell you if you have a haunting.  i had 4 come in and they all said the same thing,. then i would see a good dr. to get his opinion.
my son was hearing and seeing things, come to find out he was pychic and was being targeted by the spirts in our home. we also took him
to a good dr that started to treat his depression.  he is doing much better and we have  learned that  we don't have to live with hauntings, we can fight back and demand them to leave us alone.  watch Dead Files on the travel channel friday night it will explain a lot.
