Ghosts -Why are they dressed?

I am new to this site and somewhat ambivalent about this subject. I am not a confirmed skeptic at all. I have had a precognition experience that saved my Father's life as well as another psychic experience (knowing something contrary to all evidence) that may have saved my life. I am absolutely certain we are visited by instruments from beyond our planet. I am inclined to believe in Sasquatch (or something along those lines). So I am not a professional skeptic (one of those irritating guys who demand controlled experiments or clinical trials).

However I have a question which bugs me. Why do ghosts have clothes on ?

Also what are some good books to read about hauntings and ghosts? Not just stories but books with some good explanations .

When you pass to the other side, you choose how to represent yourself to others. If (for example) you are 86 when you die naked in your sleep, you will probably wish others to view you as you were in your prime, and fully clothed.

For residual hauntings, which are not the spirits themselves but their energy being played over and over like a video, I think their clothing stays on and looks the way it was because it absorbed some of their energy while they were alive and has become part of the recording of the event that is now playing over and over. For intelligent hauntings, where the actual spirit is there instead of just a recording of their energy, I think it's just because they like the clothes they wore and don't want to freak out living people by both being a ghost AND being naked.

This question has been asked many times, and many times, no one has given a logical answer.

Clothes do not have souls, so how do they pass on into the alleged other world? if they can take their man made (or even factory produced) clothes with them, then surely they can take shoes, maybe some memorable trinkets, photos, favorite cup, how about a few bars of soap?

Surely the question has to be asked, if someone can "imagine" the figure they say they can see wearing clothing in the style they expect them to be in, then it is very possible they are imagining the figure?

are the dead aware they scare the living? would appearing naked concern them too? Maybe some think their dead bodies would scare us even more.....i don`t think that would be on their mind while they are making their rounds of visits.

Somehow i feel we could start seeing naked ghosts on youtube if the "paranormal" groups are reading this.

In 1979 I was at work. Out of the clear blue sky I started having overwhelming thoughts and feelings of intense sadness about my father. It got so bad I started to cry and to save myself from embarrassment I went to the back of the building and hid behind some boxes. It took me about half an hour to compose myself. I am not an emotional person at all. My Dad, a combat veteran of WW2 had not seen any medical folks since his last child was born. He did not smoke, was not overweight and always seemed vigorous.

When I returned, a co-worker told me my brother had just called. I called my brother back. A younger brother, he lived with my parents. My Mom was in Massachusetts visiting her sister. My brother told me "Dad has a pain in his chest but will not go to hospital. Thinks it is the hamburger he just ate from McDonalds". I asked my bro to put my Dad on the line. My Dad said it was nothing, that he was feeling better. I told my Dad most emphatically " I do not want to hear any BS, you go to the hospital right now". I told my brother to take my Dad to the hospital. I knew something was wrong when my Dad agreed to go.

A half hour later as I entered his cubicle in the emergency room his heart stopped. They started him back up with the paddles. After quadruple bypass he lived another 20 years. If I had not been besieged by feelings and thoughts about my Dad at work, I would have never been so insistent with my Father that he should immediately go to the hospital.

I have had other circumstances like this but none with so much riding on the outcome. I do not believe I experienced anything special. A pet dog of my Father's (though he did not own one) would have known what was happening. I think we all have this innate sense in us but all the bs in our heads keeps us out of touch with it.

You are not alone as a lot of people have premonitions, I have had similar experience to yours which I could not explain at the time, I just did what I had to do and it turned out ok.Afterwards I asked myself why the heck I did it, and I still haven't got a satisfactory answer. Interesting point. The residual energy left from the person may simply create an image (especially if it's on camera rather than seen with the naked eye) that has clothes on. It's not the actual spirit wearing "spirit clothes" but rather energy manipulation that portrays a previously existing image. Not sure about the intelligent hauntings though...

Seriously though, ghosts are just energy forms and I have seen photos of 'naked ones' and 'clothed ones'..

Ghosts don't have any genitalia by the way (they told me that once during a spirit box session).

Maybe that's why they wear clothing.

I'm planning on haunting everyone naked. Just so they can die of laughter.

If anything ghost are just figments of the imagination. I can invoke my grandfather, but it's not my grandfather just a memory of him. I can evoke to visual appearance my grandfather, but it's not my grandfather. Just a hallucination based on the memory of him. The mind is a very interesting piece of organic machinery. Sure there might be real ghost and I would love to see one and hell I'd love a demonic haunting for the experience of it.

So would I, mate...so would I!

...but ZoZo won't possess me because I'm not afraid of demons or ghosts and it's not like I haven't tried to conjure up the 'legion' either...but the thing is, there's no benefit for them to possess/haunt me...OR they just don't exist (with the latter being more plausible).

If there were any way I could fill my house full of poltergeist activity, I'd LOVE to do that.

...but the 'entities' who come through my spirit box tell me they can't influence matter in the physical world, because there's this huge 'energy barrier' they cannot cross.

Well, so much for me wanting to get thrown across the room, be covered in scratches and bite marks and see all my furniture all pile up in the middle of the kitchen....dayum.

if they are only made of somekind of energy. No body, then they cant appear naked either (assuming they exist). They will resemble more a fog or a light IMO. Perhaps a ghost whos very talented can project a image in the mind of the observer and thats it. IMO IMO IMO

Assuming for the moment ghosts are real, I heard of some theories including that every time we are in prolonged contact with something that the "ethereal" body basically gets a imprint of it especially at the time of death.

Perhaps appearances are influenced by our memories and psychological make-up. I don't know; it is all conjecture really.

Learned how perception of existence posits our explanation so even if you are a genius in Physics you are still dealing out of a particular deck of cards and assuming you have the only best answer but actually could be out of the game and not even know it.

I would settle for viewing any ghost.

Had a UFO viewing when very young along with likely thousands of others in northern NJ (mentioned in "UFOs and the National Security State"). But any relationship or link between spirits and UFOs exist most likely only in media reality. Why do I bring it up? Probably because I am a product of American media to an extent I am not even aware.

I didn't start the conversation...I heard the spirits talking to each other about it and I asked for confirmation.
