MSM Predict Super Obama's Priorities

-the MSM has begun to inform the world on Barack Obama's priorities but are they leaving out his initial priority, going back to the primaries, to bring the Troops home?

From the front webpage of CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/06...ties/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- When it comes to priorities, many polls suggest Americans want President-elect Barack Obama to fix the economy first when he enters the Oval Office in a little more than two months.

Getting Congress to approve tax cuts promised on the campaign trail may be a good start toward tackling the problem, analysts say.

If that goes well, experts say, the political momentum will help make it easier for Obama to keep his other campaign promises on alternative energy and getting health care for millions.

"In Washington, winning leads to winning, and losing breeds losing," said Stuart Rothenberg of the nonpartisan The Rothenberg Political Report.

However, setting priorities often means navigating treacherous waters.

"Between now and inauguration, every group in the country is going to lay down their marker as to what they think should be done, what they need, what they want and how they got him elected," Rothenberg said, adding, "This is a very fine line with various constituencies. Everybody wants a piece of Barack Obama."

In the first 100 days, a president's agenda easily can be derailed, especially if he provokes a fight with Congress.

"They don't think he's merely going to be president," Rothenberg said. "They think he's been elected savior."

He added, "And so if he does not do what they hope he will do, what they expect he will do ... he'll start getting criticism on the left and on the right."

David Gergen, an adviser to four presidents, including Clinton said, "Barack Obama has to avoid dilly-dallying, not being certain about where he's going to go.

"I must say about Barack Obama, he's one of the most strategic and disciplined political leaders we've had in a long time."

Earth doesn't need a mere man, we're all yearning for a messiah. I think that's why a lot of his supporters hold such high expectations for him; unfortunately, he is a man.

I think the Messiah-like status this guy has received is ridiculous.

If he CAN fix even half of the things he's promised, that hardly makes him a savior. But it does make him a good president, and I think this idol like position people are putting him in is not only foolish, but an incredible amount of unneeded pressure...pressure that will either work with or against him.

i think what we're experiencing since the MSM announced his victory is the same MSM portraying him as Superman-like or the saviour..

most, including myself, felt good about a minority becoming pres. of a nation built on slavery yet i doubt many feel he should be

held in such a high light before he's done anything ..

its almost as if the MSM is being instructed to build up the hype early so as each expectation diminishes so does his legacy.

Maybe, it's best to keep your enemies close to you?

Everyone wants a seat at the table, denying the zionists would be political suicide.

Always remember that the Messiah owes his political soul to the extreme left of the Dem party. They backed him, paid for him, hushed detractors for him, etc.

They are going to expect him to repay the debt with all the claims he made over the last two years. They won't care about triffles like reality and unforseen events.

And if McCain had won, he would owe his soul to someone too.. more likely corporate then public, and be ruling by their agenda.

Except I can't imagine any unforeesn events or realities that would have caused McCain to reverse his stance on taxes and raise them or allow the Bush tax cuts to expire, pull the military out of Iraq immediately, enact rules to bankrupt the coal industry, etc.

Whereas I can see a lot of potential (if not likely) events that could (should) cause the Messiah not to raise taxes, distribute the wealth, pull the troops out promptly, etc etc

I'm sure he'll repay the union bosses by granting them the card-check program which will take away worker's free choice.

So McCain would have been EXACTLY like bush. Deciding on some failed policy and following it despite being unpopular and not working. I think we all know that an overwelming majority of Americans rejected that crap.

... Are you just ignorant, or stupid? I hope its the first, there's a cure for that one.

Actually it must be ignorance.. You don't bother to read anything, I've realized that, you don't pay attention to facts and you have a knack for bringing up the most radical and unlikely possibility in any given situation. Its like a broken record.. a broken Blondie record....

When you've bothered to look up the facts about both McCain and Obama's political promises and stances.. then come back. Otherwise.. You're as bad as the Enquirer... I read that for laughs by the way.

In Obama I see a candidate who promised to raise taxes, cut the military, bring the troops home pronto, put the coal industry out of work, redistribute the wealth, spend spend spend and dammm with the deficit, etc.

Don't see much of that with McCain.

Moot points anyway. The election is over.

Imagine this: You plan on taking a fabulous but expensive trip to (wherever). A short time before your vacation your car breaks down and you end up having to spend several hundred or thousand to get it fixed.

Do you still spend the money on the trip too or hold off for a while to save up again?

And this is where I call you names.. your an idiot.

Obama promised to raise taxes.. GOOD, we NEED that, and I didn't see McCain preaching free milk and honey for all.

Obama NEVER said bring the troops home pronto.. in fact hes talked about sending out more troops in a MORE FOCUSED fashion, getting the job DONE as quickly as he can and THEN bringing the troops home, possibly after negotiations with Iraq, because they have ASKED us to leave. Where as McCain has been quoted as saying he wants us to stay in Iraq for 100 years....

Obama hasn't threatened to put the coal industry out of work.. hes promised to put in higher requirements for green house emission control.. forcing the industry to update their systems. Which means.. all those factories and refineries will have to upgrade technology, which isn't THAT hard to do, or face fines. This is progress.. not destruction.

The wealth is already being redistributed. Tax money goes to health care, schools, disabilities and child care, tax money is spread out all over the place, from the rich to the poor. You're bent out of shape because its finely being pointed out. Right now we should be spreading the wealth, SHOULD be taking care of the under privileged, or we're looking at becoming one HUGE 3rd world country.

Spend spend spend.. Any more then McCain wanted to? More money to the military? They get trillions of dollars already to kill our family members.. we're spending billions to help major corporations outsource our jobs and we've dumped trillions into a health care program that does not work.. McCain wanted to spend spend spend too, or are you ignoring his flaws.. Hes as much YOUR Messiah as you think Obama is the Left's.

You keep whining because you truly believe we think Obama can do no wrong. Yeah.. we know the risks.. we know hes not perfect and we know he might screw up.. I've even heard him called the lesser of 2 evils. That might be true.. but you've been doing nothing but preaching about how McCain would have made things so much better and I have yet to see how.. HOW he could do so with his plans. Where they didn't mirror Obama's plans exactly.. they called for radical spending in all areas. They called for another 100 years of war... Hes so against abortion, but in the end, our children will be bread to die. We know what we're getting with Obama.. and thank whatever God or Goddess you want to that there where enough people willing to cure their own ignorance to see hes giving us a chance, something McCain could never do.

Obama's Quote "So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them."

There are only so many ways you can clean the byproduct pollution from coal, and most all places have them implimented.

As for the rest of his penalties and such on big business... what do you think big business is gonna do about it? Instead of "Spreading The Wealth" they are gonna "Spread The Cost". They will pass down the fines and penalties to the consumer just as they do now, except this will be at a much steeper rate. Add that in with Obama's extra tax cost and everyone not making 150k a year will be below the poverty level. Im sorry you cant see these facts for what they are, and im also sorry you have reduced yourself to calling people names because they disagree with your point of view. Very Sad.

Oh you must be from FAUX News! Taking things out of context is their job, right? You've been backing a total moron who's flat out said "Iraq will beat us" in his vocal slips, and you've got the nerve to over analyze one statement and ignore the rest of the facts? No, most places don't have them implemented.. We're trying to force this matter in Tennessee even now, because the pollution levels from the older plants are enough to make people sick. There ARE effective ways of cleaning emissions, but without the regulations in place, there's no reason for anyone to spend the money on them.

And you really think we're going to do any better cutting Big Business' tax down to almost nothing, paying them extra for outsourcing and giving them handouts? That's worked SO WELL over the last 8 years, lets keep doing it! Open your eyes, the government doesn't run the US, the people don't run the US, the oil industry runs the US, Walmart runs the US, we've given them too much power. If they're going to punish Americans for being held responsible for their greed, then so be it, maybe the government can cap them, maybe not, but whats better, giving them more and more money and letting them keep the power that already have and haven't earned, or putting a lid on it while we have a chance? It'll have to happen sooner or later, unless you like you're money printed with the word "Exon" across the front.

Obama's opinion on the coal industry sounded very clear to me. Tax them until they're bankrupt.

How can you take that out of context ?

I think he was talking about non-clean coal. I'm pretty sure this was his plan to force coal companies to be eco-friendly.

First off, I didnt back Bush in his second term, or McCain during his campaign... Second, I live in the Tennessee Valley myself, and Tennessee Coal fired plants, if im not mistaken, now operate under the "Clear Skies" Project and have reduced their emissions by 21%. Either you can check into that, or ill do a little digging later, im at work and dont have time to find that right now. Now, what im trying to make clear here is the fact that these companies already do face fines, heavy ones. Do you know what they do about it? THEY PAY THEM and pass the cost down to the customer, what makes you think implimenting new fines is going to change that fact? Also, as for giving Big Business a tax cut? Hell No, but im not saying jack their taxes up so high that the consumer cant keep up either. You dont seem to grasp the fact that with this plan 60% of americans will be to poor to drive to work. As if this recession we are in now isnt bad enough, you want to make it a full blown depression.

I sort of agree. As long as these coal companies can afford the conversion and are given the time needed. Alot of Appalachain families rely on the coal industry for jobs. So I'd rather produce some dirty coal for awhile than to see these families lose their jobs.
