Personal religious experience

Hi evryone if you don't remember me or don't know I'm a post graduate philosophy student currently studying for my Phd. Last time I was on the forum I was investigating peoples ideas about religious experience and the drug induced experiences of early man (Shamenism). As a result a received some very interesting opinions. Now I would like to ask people out there if any of you have had any truly spiritual experiences which led you either to a religion or simply reaffirm your existing one. This question is aimed at evryone from all different religions. If people don't mind I would like them to described their experiences in detail. As a result I may use the information gathered for my thesis. Remember please constructive comments only I'm not here to dismiss people's experiences I simply wish to record them.

Here's a story though: It was my 7th grade basketball championship game and one of our players scored with 20 seconds left in the game which made the score 52 to 50 with us winning. So I said "Thank God!". After saying that the other team with like 10 seconds to go gets a three pointer. Ironic ain't it?

My experience wasn't religious, it was spiritual. It changed my life as I know it.

When my mother was dying at hospice with cancer, a few hours before her death, we (me, bro, sis, and the nurses) witnessed something extraordinary. Not anything of this world, it couldnt be. I realized immediately we are not religious by nature, not meant for religion- it's merely a code to live by. I learned that we are inately spiritual. It's all around us, it can't be acknowledged by the senses. It's like our thoughts and emotions. They keep living after we die. After all, its our thoughts and our emotions * our spiritual essense that let us know we are alive. --

I'm currently studying and exploring William James and his explorations of religious experience. Hope I didn't offend I don't want you to think you are a 'test' subject. i'm just trying to research the similarities between experience and personal belief systems.

That's sounds very interesting. Astral Travel can be a form of it, you should research that a little bit.

You could also say smoking ganja is a form of religious experience for Rastafarians. It doesn't make them Rastafarians but it is part of the livity. And, I don't know how you could research that though.

This is an interesting idea I've been studying early shamenism for a while so here's my question does the intake of drugs simply give the taker an experience which the individual transforms by their own belief system or is it actually a key do opening the spiritual consciousness of man?

Well, with ganja, it is said to make you wise and make you brave. And, they say it was found at Solomon grave, as the first growing plant. It is said to bring you closer to humbleness and closer to JAH or God. Selfless service.

The most profound one, which is probably the hardest for people to believe is this. I was pulled out (in spirit) by the heavenly father, who said to me, come out of her. To cut a long story short, I sat at his right hand side, thats when I was told I had opened the 5th seal.

This happened on the 3rd Dec 2002 when Mars Venus and Mercury were in the constellation of Virgo.

Her's a link That Walking with Fire gave me, it has thousands of near death experiences, and there is a question and answer at the end asking about religions and how it changed their afiliations to what they believed before and after.

I think many have Had experiences, which even on an anonamous forum, would be hesitant to share for fear of being Ostracised , judged negativly, Or called just plain nuts by Others.

The experiences on the nderf site is a volunteer sent story, I think you will get alot of info, and if you search hard enough You can even interview some of the experiencers, depending on if they checked the box on the questionaire.

More than happy to share! Most of my experiences were a culmination of many years fighting the fight, seven to be precise. At the end of this 7 year internal battle, a number of experiences took place. The opening of the 5th seal was the 2nd in a line of 4, within a space of a few months. The first being in spirit underneath the sphinx and being asked the riddle. The 2nd was opening the 5th seal, the 3rd I was taken on a journey to a structure in space, where they told me my God dwelled, and the 4th was sitting myself down in a star called Eta Carina.

On each experience I was wide awake, not meditating, not taking part in any religious ceremonies, it was the synchronicities I followed, that silent whisper eh! But one thing happened just before my spirit left the body on all occasions, the same thing, my whole body starts shaking from the inside out, then *pop* I'm somewhere else!

I was pulled out by the father, who appeared as a kind of round hazy red spirit, if that makes sense. To his right hand side, there was a female in what looked like a round, green hazy spirit. When the male spirit said to me come out of her, the female one replied with "Do you see what I'm up against now?" I was kind of stuck between these two spirits ongoing battles, like a child stuck between argueing parents. I had to find a neutral ground! At that moment in time I found myself in a blue hazy ball at the right hand side of the father, then I came out of this sphere and ascended between these two spirits in what I believed to be the constellation of Virgo. There in my sight were three large eggs, I approached the first one and climbed inside it, I found myself inside this blue sphere again, with these two spirits by the side of me. I remember saying to myself, its just the same as the place I just came from, so I come out of this egg and went back to this blue sphere at the side of the father again. To my right hand sde appeared another spirit, a female who said to me I had opened the 5th seal, and asked what I would like to do with the rest. I replied without thinking anything of it with "you can have them!" She said I must fall to give my love to the Queen in the South. As I looked down towards the Earth I could see the sun the moon and the earth. I started to fall, first landing on the moon and then I fell again. I found myself in the physical form on some dusty road in South Africa being stared at by a number of people who were around, then all of a sudden it ended and I was consciously back in my body in the UK.

I say the Father in this experience because in the bible it is the Father who tells us to come out of her. Her, being the influence of Venuis, the Father I believe to be Mars and the blue sphere, Mercury.

Anyway, I hope that makes sense to the adepts amongst you!

Please note, I have never been part of any religious movement or of any church for that matter. So why these experiences happened, only God knows!

But the fruit we bare is the seperation or should I rephrase that, a conscious pole flip, out of the influence of Mars, to be born new in Mercury. We take off our red cloak and put on our blue.

And its not an easy process to go through! But to understand the truth at the end of it was worth it.

I'm back! Well, now I've started, I might aswell drop in story number two! Or should I say, the first of four.

Standing in the light of Venus sure has a funny way of stripping us bare. At my point of reaching nothingness that zero point in us all, that pulsing feeling hit me again. Out I go in spirit, this time I found myself underneath the sphinx, being led into a small chamber by a character called Thoth. Dont ask me how I know it was him, the higher self has a funny way of knowing all things once faced with it, anyway......he led me into this small chamber. In front of me appeared two balls of light a couple of inches in diameter. They merged together to create a bigger ball of light two or three feet diameter. Out of this ball of light appeared two tall spirit beings about seven or eight feet tall. They began to ask me the riddle of the sphinx, to which I replied "man" as the answer. Then I was led out into what was a long corridor with three or four large pillars half way down, at the end of it was a steel door. I remember walking and getting to the pillars, and then the experience ended.

If I was to interpret this experience, I would guess it is a gateway to understand the realm of spirit, the gateway to the stars eh!

Next time it hapens , For an answer , try LOVE. Man was pretty Good , But Love encompasses Man, and Spirit.

Love is the ultimate emotion, the singularity at zero point only allows room for one emotion. We give that light at the core a name - LOVE, it allows us to overcome the world and it is the only truth
