Been to Houston, but never heard of the place. My guess is that it's abandoned? Looks creepy. You should go to the place. And take pictures. Lots of them.

short info on it

Houston - Jefferson Davis hospital - the hospital has spirits such as nurses, doctors, and patients that still roam its halls. Many have gone into this establishment and have had their own personal experiences such as being watched, seeing shadows, and smelling sterilization solutions in certain spots. The spirits are restless and have been agitated from all of the visitors they've been receiving. It was built upon a site of about 3,000 graves of civil war and yellow fever victims, from when it was a cemetery in the 1800's. It is now patrolled fairly heavily by the local fire department, which is right next door. Explores/ghost hunters suggest that it not be visited unless you are with a fairly large group that can respect their domain. - !!Warning!! As with any abandoned building, they may be structurally unsound or you can find yourself being robbed as these kids did or much worse. abclocal.go.com/ktrk/news/80103_local_teenscare.html - April 2005 Update: The building is currently getting renovated.

It's really funny how the video didn't even pick up a single orb....maybe it's because I forgot to turn off night shot. Then I find out I had a follower.....Rather interesting night.

What's up. Yea, I've been there. It's hard to get in because it's gated. The most haunted floor is the third floor, i'll saw shadows running down the hall and thought it was my friends, but when I followed them into the room, no one was there. I felt like I was being messed with. I cannot confirm becuase there were no other witness to see the silohette. The fourth floor is the mechanical room where the motor that powers the elevator shaft is located. Second floor has concrete rooms where the patients stayed. The rooms are small, but there are rooms everywhere. The ground level is where the have file rooms. A few times in there I have sensed and heard one of my friends behind me, but as i turn aound, there was no one there. There is also a boiler room. The Houstn Police department is two blocks away, and there is a fire station next door so getting in is hard because the fire station is active all night. Let me know if you want to go. I have spoke to Yawtza about our future trip. I'll PM you later.

In the 5th picture you posted, there is a telephone pole in the corner where the fence is, to the right, you can see where the fence has been cut open, this is where i entered, but I would not recommend going alone. There were some ghost hunters that went inside to only be held up at gun point.

suspended_in_dusk :

Are you coming with us on our little roadtrip? It's in late August...Lordnikon knows about it if you want info.

Do you have the information that tells you why it is closed ?

It looks pretty creepy, even though i live in the United kingdom, it still looks pretty wierd..

why don't you next time go and try and get some EVP's but only do this if you have a protective spell and you have done your research on it !

Anyways good luck

Hey that cemetery was really peaceful, I don't think anything goes on there. On top of that, even at night, it's too bright and busy with traffic.

I've been to Jefferson Davis Hospital, many times. I even wrote my name on the walls, on the second and third floor with spray paint. Of course this was 2 years ago. I never saw or heard anything, and my friends and I would always go there at night. Seeing how it was closed down and they had a security guard. Then one night on the second floor, my friends and I were walking towards the end of the hall way, where the big room is. And I being last, heard these footsteps behind me. It sounded like dress shoes walking, and we were all wearing tennis and I was last. It was pretty freaky, but I never saw anything. We even went down to the basement to play the Ouija board, but again nothing happened. We messed around with the place, we moved the old rusty hospital beds out of the basement. And in the very back, there was a buiding that I guess caught fire since it was all collapsed, anyways we try seeing if we could see any spirits, but all we found were old paper work, broken furniture and broken glass. I think the only thing scarier in that hospital was the elevator, on the very bottom there was glass, pipes and all sorts of junk to really hurt yourself, if you took the wrong turn and ended up faling down the elevater. After that night, we never went back. I think they bought the place and will be turning it into an art studio??

i've been there... i live in la porte tx just outside of houston... i found this place while searching for a place to shoot a music video... i found my spot

the only trick to this is getting in, shooting the film and getting out before we get arrested

last time i went, it was about 3 years ago... there are no records of it but there is a 5th floor

the hospital looked more like a mental ward on the inside. i was with a group of 5, so everyone was pretty tripped out

inside we found some hospital beds and streachers, nothing outta the ordonary

when we hit the second floor we found some rib spreaders and alot of blankets

the third floor was where it got intresting, we found some reels of film. i took one but lost it sometime last year... the cool stuff was on the film.

i'm hoping i find another one while shooting the video

anyways, on the film was alot of people in strait jackets, and some doctors removing vital organs... it was awsome... black and white of corse

the 4th floor sucked, just bloody walls and sheets

we found a set of stair leading to the roof, they had caved in so we tried to find another way up... i found a fire escape ladder outside of one of the windows. only 2 of us had the balls to go up it, me and my friend wayne.

when we got to the roof we found the 5th floor. it was actually a room made of steel. it had a steel sliding door and a steel baracade like lock thing... like you see on old movies when people are trying to keep people out of somewhere.

if i remember correctly, we spent about 30min tryin to get that b**** open

once we got inside we realized it was an isolation chamber. also inside we found a rotted out laundry bag full of broken, rotten casts

nothing really creepy about it, no ghosts, no funny smells

just a kick ass place to shoot a music video

Been there, done that. Don't worry, your not missing out on anything. I heard and saw a few strange things but nothing that is worthy of being deemed ghostly.

I did however thought the person behind me was my friend, until my friend walked in from another room. Maybe it was another person from our team that walked out right as someone walked in. there's more than likely a simple explanation for that.

There is also a old theatre and little church there to that is supposed to be active. I live about 20 minutes away from it. People want to go but, yea people get robbed out there. If I can get ahold of a digital cam I will go during the day. I know the owner of the property with the church won't allow anyone in for any reason. There are a few who sneaked in. They have their pics at the Ghosthunters site. It's a pretty popular place. The whole area is haunted. Not just the Hospital.

I was one of those kids that went there a lot as a teenager. We went there repeatedly back in the late 90s, on the lore of a friend's family member who used to work there as a security guard right before it closed. We didn't really know of all the bodies underneath, just that there were. What we did know came from the person who worked there, and it involved that person having to constantly search floors because they would hear people walking on other floors, something closing and opening doors...when they were the only ones there. There supposedly was a situation where a medical coat was moved in a room that no one was in from one place to another. This person that worked there wasn't extremely sensitive to these kinds of things, which only added to what we thought was the strength of the stories.

One of the most extreme situations I can remember is that when you would drive around the bend to the street it was on, dogs would come up and chase your car. But as you got closer to the building, they would stop and would wait until you returned. They rarely entered the parking lot. They would chase you just as viciously when coming back, but literally would stop and wait about 50-100ft from the building.

Several people described seeing a dark shadow on the top floor, about three windows to the left of the center. None of them knew the others had seen this. Furthermore, although it was an elevator shaft, in the back several also said they saw a white image, thought to be female, from that window.

This place is extremely beyond creepy at night. This should be a museum, not housing.

That is really strange. I think animals sense what we don't. Even if they just sense that there was something bad in there maybe not paranormal, just bad it's still freaky.... :o

Yes, we used to go to Jeff Davis at least twice a week also, one of the main things i always noticed about the building was that despite the fact it had been abandoned for many years and basically "wide open" there were absolutely no animals inside or anywhere on the grounds. Not a single bird, racoon, cat, or even a bug were ever seen while we were there. I have a close friend who has been living at the building since February of this year. They really have done a wonderful job on the renovation and it is truly one of the most unique places to live in the downtown area. I spend almost every weekend at the building and hope to move in myself. Yes, I believe the ghosts are still there (at least a few of them lol) but they are much calmer then the old days. My friend has one in their apt that doesnt like a particular figurine and everytime its out on a shelf (no matter what shelf or flat surface we have found) it will fling the figurine on the floor, but other than that I think they mean no harm and seem to be more playful than angry these days

I am a resident here at Elder St Artist Lofts, aka Jeff Davis Hospital.....They have done an outstanding job on the renovation of the building and it is now private residences. It is not "guarded" but, you must be a guest of someone who resides here or arrange a tour through the property management to be on the property. If you havent heard of the building before I would go to google and do a search there are LOTS of great before and after pictures out there :) !! I myself have always loved the building since the first time I saw it and its been a dream come true being able to live here!!
