It does rather seem as if there's a coordinated campaign in Scotland to make UKIP look ridiculous. Every time Nigel Farage seems to try to do anything, then "protestors" with dyed hair pop up with placards calling him a racist. Is this just the people of Scotland spontaneiously giving their views, or I wonder if it could be a campaign to sabotage the anti-EU campaign?

Life is a hideous business, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous.

of course there is more at play here. its political skulduggery. the SNP in scotland have lowered the voting age to 16, not for the good of politics and the country as a whole but because they expect to gain a large percentage of their vote from young Robert the Bruce's. i mean, this move alone to lower the voting age tells you everything you need to know about the SNP. they would and have gladly given the 16 year olds the vote for their own political gain. but would they show the same keenness to be ruled by elected Scottish MP's aged 16 year and have them running the Scottish government, i very much doubt it. it would be seen as madness. for which it is.

UKIP is English, it holds almost no support outside of England and is seen as somewhat of a ridiculous, slightly racist, faction of a British political system which only represents the south of the country to any significant degree. Its views are seen as extreme and unrepresentative outside of it English constituency. He certainly wont win any votes by complaining about Scottish democracy when the Scots look on Westminister as the English parliament w2hich fails to represent them.

If you think that UKIP can make any inroads into Wales,Scotland and Ireland you are a fool.

Maybe you should start your campaign for English independence by dissolving the union - that way you might get a bit of support outside of the English Heartlands.

Result :w00t:

(Problem is though, the prospect of joining the Euro might add a few (hundred thousand) votes to the no camp)

Euro Vs Sterling, same difference, same result - bilked economy.

The issue wasn't the Euro so much as the failure of regulation (with the square mile the main cheerleader for market deregulation). The world economy went tits up on bad bets in the two biggest casino's in the world (Wall street and the square mile) and the average person is left to foot the bill. Most things circle back to an English **** up if you look hard enough.

And i've no doubt that is your 'jumping off' point for any given subject on this forum. Your dislike of all things English is clear & I take this into account when reading your posts.

I am English by birth, I love the English and England as a country. However England always was and has increasingly become the plaything of the rich "robber Barons" and a fairly miserable place for the average Englishperson to live in.

I see the flaws in the Great nation and the harm that they have done on their subjects and Colonies, and I call the English nation out on those things.

I just wish that England was a better, fairer and more decent place.

Sycophants and jingoists make me sick because they are rarely honest about what are the real causes of their countries problems.

Its difficult to look kindly on a nation when you look at it through the eyes of a colonial neighbour, its a hard thing to live with and justify when you understand that the death of a million Irish people could have been avoided if the British Parliament had have taken a more interventionist approach over its decision to allow Laizza Fair  economics to decide the outcome of the great Irish famine. Try defending that in an Irish pub and you will soon see that others have an entirely different opinion of the great nation, and they have a perfectly valid point.

If by that you mean the likes of Google, Vodaphone & Starbucks and the Banks then I would tend to agree.

"I just wish that England was a better, fairer and more decent place."

Don't we all, but compared with the majority of countries around the world I think we fair pretty well, just ask the people of Greece, Spain Italy etc. besides, it can't be that bad, cuz everybody seems to want to come here.

Well, personally I would tend not to judge a country & it's people on something there forefathers did 200 years ago, but if I ever bump into a group of young germans in a pub, i'll be sure to bang on about the world wars 1 & 2 and rub their noses in it.

The way the English treated the Irish was racist and fairly much par for the course as far as the colonies were concerned. The same type of attitudes are rearing their ugly head again in England so I see a distinct continuity in the English Elite.

Sorry, are we still talking about 200 years ago.?

"The same type of attitudes are rearing their ugly head again in England so I see a distinct continuity in the English Elite"

Example please.. Or are we talking about controlling immigration & stricter boarder control? You know, much like those 'racist' Australians do.
