No, not the WWII battle. The doc shows the impact of plastic garbage from Great Pacific Garbage Patch on the bird populations. Midway is 2,000 miles from the nearest continent, yet almost all birds there have plastic in their digestive system.

Plastic is so insidious, I don't know what the answer is. Eventually though we will run out of cheap oil, so this problem is not permanent.
