Public asked not send Xmas parcels to troops

Andrew Robathan, minister for the Armed Forces, said huge volumes of post from well wishers had overwhelmed the military postal service in previous years.

Mr Robathan told the Commons that the volume of mail going through the British Forces Post Office increases by two-thirds in the run up to Christmas.

The glut of mailbags can strain supply routes and even prevent mail getting through from troops’ families.

Not to worry, our postal service is being sold off so I am sure the new private companies will be able to deal with it and welcome the business!!

Just means we should send to the troops ALL year and not just at Christmas. They serve and sacrifice all year anyway, so the need is not just once a year.

I think the hidden truth is someone does not want to rock the boat any more by offending the muslims in muslim countries were the soldiers are....and should not be! Doesn`t go down well when christian religious parcels are being delivered left right and center in December through the center of Kabul for our soldiers.
