Still Waters Posted August 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2013 Scientists have created a beer which could finally put an end to the dreaded hangover. The beer has been created by a team of researchers in Australia who say it prevents drinkers from becoming dehydrated. They have added electrolytes - an ingredient in sports drinks - which helps to keep them refreshed. However, inevitably, some may feel there is a downside to the new drink. In order to create it, they have had to reduce the alcohol content. http://www.dailymail...esearchers.html

Odd Requiem Posted August 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2013 This sounds just as useful as alcohol free beer.
Insanity Posted August 18, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2013 A very light beer with electrolytes may as well be a sports drink, or maybe water. The electrolytes did not effect the taste of the beer as it did not have a taste to begin with. Another solution to avoid hangovers is to just drink water as well as you drink beer. Odd Requiem Posted August 18, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2013 . I guess that's something you wouldn't touch Odd, judging by the hefty bottle on your profile pic! :-) If I were drinking just for the flavor, sure, I might give it a go...but i'm clearly not after the taste. BiffSplitkins Posted August 19, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 19, 2013 They can call it GatorBeer. Better yet, call it Brawndo. Beer rarely gives me a hangover. It would take a lot of beer to give me a hangover.

Hawken Posted August 19, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Better yet, call it Brawndo. Beer rarely gives me a hangover. It would take a lot of beer to give me a hangover. Depends on the alcohol content which varies from different brands.
pallidin Posted August 19, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) So why did they have to reduce the alcohol content? Couldn't they just have increased the electrolytes ? Maybe not for some reason. They're the scientists I quess. EDIT: I do know this lady that pours a couple shots of vodka into a regular-size bottle of gatorade. pallidin Posted August 19, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Wonder if it still does the same ammount of damage to your liver and such... Probably, as added electrolytes does nothing to stop the impact of alcohol on the liver. But, being a "low alcohol" content beer, most people would suffer little effect on their liver unless, I suppose, they drank too much.

DKO Posted August 20, 2013 #22 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Keep the regular alcohol content and add the electrolytes then I'll try it. As long as it doesn't taste weird.
MysticStrummer Posted August 20, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 20, 2013 They can call it GatorBeer. GatorAle Instead of learning to stop nonsensical and self destructive behavior, count on humans to spend time and money inventing a way to continue it with less discomfort. Once again I have to say it... the movie Idiocracy is looking more prophetic all the time.
