A tunnel west of Tokyo, collapsed for unknown reasons ,and trapped numerous cars and people .
Some cars were on fire ,and the total of possible dead and trapped ,is still unknown .At least 5 charred bodies have been removed so far .
Cause of the collapse is still unknown .
This, because of structural architecture designed specifically for EQ prone Japan ,is highly unusual .

I wonder if the 2011 quake stressed it and the indications of damage were missed?  Those people have gone through more than should be expected of anyone, IMO.  I feel so badly for them.  I don't know what the culture appears like from within but I do know that I have never seen similar courage and stoicism from any other group of people in the face of such hardship anywhere else in the world.

The EQ was very far north of this ,however, daily tremors and quakes ,who knows, but all their stuff is built specifically to cater to this.
They have had 1000s of small shocks and quakes since march 2011 though.
The word is,Tokyo is due for the huge one, like in 1923 .
They are way overdue

they are not in best of locations, eventually no matter who good their anti quake buildings are, nature will bring them all down:

Have a watch of this.

In an ideal World a law would be passed were NO guns were allowed and all those out there destroyed, trouble is the law makers are not going to take a risk of trying to pass that without making sure they are armed first.

Stories from eyewitnesses inside the tunnel.
Horrible

9 confirmed dead now ,and security cameras caught slabs of concrete just falling from the ceiling .No reason given yet.
There are other tunnels like this one,and they're all going to be inspected now.

Quite unusual. My condolences, this is terrible news. Things like this should not happen.

Poor tunnel infrastructure is to blame.
