It has recently been discovered that Heart Mountain near the Wyoming/Montana border has at sometime moved 62 miles in about one half hour. The article also reported that other mountains in the world also possess the necessary geology to do the same. One of those mentioned is the Canary Islands.
It has to do with the density of their internal dike buildups and the presence of hot water within those spaces between the dikes.

Not in the standard way it wasn't, ie it wasn't caused by the movement of tectonic plates. This was a catastrophic volcanic event. It must have caused an almighty earthquake.
