Blushing in the dark:first experimental proof

Blushing has been described as our the most peculiar human expression, because so many questions exist as to how and why our faces suddenly flush with colour.

One age-old question has been whether we make the distinctive facial expression when alone, or in the dark, because there is no one around to notice it, but historically one fundamental problem made the problem difficult to solve.

Well, it's the same old philosophical problem: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

On a more prosaic way, it's obvious that we blush even in darkness, since it's a phisical reaction trigged by our brain to external stimuli, that can be visual, but not limited to them, such as sound or tactile stimuli (and here comes the bad joke: are really these scientists so nerd? Haven't they ever been with a woman? They should know from experience!)

On the other hand, based on their assumptions, they could've asked themself: do a blind person blush? They could've tested this problem even with lights up!
