Persia Posted September 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2011 The encoding device sparked a three-way bidding war when it went under the hammer at Christie's in London Thursday, selling for £133,250 ($208,137) -- more than double the upper estimate of £50,000. http://edition.cnn.com/2011/09/29/world/europe/uk-enigma-machine-auction/index.html? Grandpa Greenman Posted September 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2011 (edited) Well that's a nice collectible if you're into that kind of thing. Edited September 29, 2011 by Darkwind
Trog Posted September 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2011 The most amazing thing about that auction was the 104 year old biscuit , it turned into Gold , lock it away for a hundred and four years and some one gives you $2004 , or one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds for it .... That's better than ''Alchemy'' ..... I throw stale bread out all the time , but how would one keep bread or a biscuit for one hundred years without it turning into something totally unrecognizable ?
