I have been sorry to see threads slip away with good information in

so I thought I'd start a General Thread

As WikiLeaks Founder, Julian Assange is at the moment still 'banged up' in Britain

and looks like being here for a long time...I thought the UK Forum was

the best place to put it

You are invited to put updates, thoughts and information here.... :tu:

Wikileaks-founder-Julian--007.jpg

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/dec/14/julian-assange-bail-sweden

A dramatic day in and around City of Westminster magistrates court saw Assange win bail, but then be forced to return to what his lawyer Mark Stephens described as "Dickensian conditions" at Wandsworth prison while the international legal battle played out.

Sweden has decided to contest the granting of bail to Assange, who is being held pending an extradition hearing, on the grounds that no conditions imposed by a judge could guarantee that he would not flee, a legal source told the Guardian.

I don't think for one minute that he would flee

IMO they are drawing it all out to take attention away from the actual leaks

and to tie energy and resources up in legal battles

Michael Moore: Why I’m Posting Bail Money for Julian Assange

Posted by Ralph Bernardo on December 14, 2010

http://www.disinfo.com/2010/12/michael-moore-why-im-posting-bail-money-for-julian-assange/

Moore / AssangeMichael Moore writes on his blog:

Yesterday, in the Westminster Magistrates Court in London, the lawyers for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange presented to the judge a document from me stating that I have put up $20,000 of my own money to help bail Mr. Assange out of jail.

Furthermore, I am publicly offering the assistance of my website, my servers, my domain names and anything else I can do to keep WikiLeaks alive and thriving as it continues its work to expose the crimes that were concocted in secret and carried out in our name and with our tax dollars.

We were taken to war in Iraq on a lie. Hundreds of thousands are now dead. Just imagine if the men who planned this war crime back in 2002 had had a WikiLeaks to deal with. They might not have been able to pull it off. The only reason they thought they could…

It surprises me how much love there is for Assange. But the people all over the world are deeply hungry for what he is offering us. I am so tired of being lied to by our government. I am so tired of their thinking that the governments are the answer to everything in our lives.

And foremost, I believe that no government can protect us from terrorism.

If there is an intruder, molester, polluter in my back yard, stealing food from my garden, I would want to oust him from the property in any manner possible.

You cannot blame the middle east for wanting to oust the American intruders in their backyard.

I demand policy changes from our government.

I don't care for Islam, but then I don't care for Christianity and the Jewish religion either. I don't like women-hating religions.

As more and more companies bend under government pressure, a few are standing up for the site.

Julian Assange is playing you, his supporters, for fools. While I may despise this worthless peice of trash, I believe he's actually playing for the government team. Here's why. What better way for the government to get their "internet shutdown" button than to have a massive security leak all over the internet? All of Assanges supporters freak out and mass amounts of hackers attack sites, both public and government all over the world. The government then passes legislation to regulate, control, and monitor the internet. After all is said and done, the government gets more power, and Julian Assange suddenly is a free man who's laughing his way to the bank. Now, this scenario may sound a little paranoid and crazy to you, but it isn't any crazier than a bunch of neo hippie, ultra liberal, wannabe revolutionaries who worship a whiny hacker who tried to play with the big kids and got his own ass handed back to him for it.

No, I believe the government does this kind of stuff, this counter-intelligence antics. I just do not believe that they are doing it here. I believe in Assange.

I just read that it is also odd that he is not leaking anything regarding Israel. I have yet to go to his site to confirm that concept.

Maybe his leaker weeded out all Israeli cables.

Oh, Bee, while I apreciate the bob Marley tune, you seem to have the missed the sarcasm bit to my post. For the record, I think Julian Assange is 3/4 of a douchebag, in Germany, he'd be called a douchenheimer, (Don't ask for a translation, I don't think it would). This man seems to want to play a game he can't win. One moron with an army of rejects from the movie "HACKERS" isn't going to win, he can't. So, there is no conspiracy, just one moron who needs to go back to the kids table.

Really, that's the best you can come up with, wow, I'm kind of disappointed. I thought I would get better from you. Now my feelings are hurt. Oh well, I guess there's nothing left for me to do than go back to my boring mundane existence, but hey, I can always look at the bright side. At least I'm not Julian Assange, I mean Christ, who wants to be that guy right now?

(Reuters) - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told his mother from his prison cell in London that he remained committed to publishing secret U.S. cables, despite condemnation from Washington and elsewhere, Australian television reported Tuesday.

Australia's Network Seven asked Christine Assange to ask her 39-year-old son one question during a visit to his London jail: Was it worth it?

"My convictions are unfaltering. I remain true to the ideals I have expressed. This circumstance shall not shake them," said Assange, according to his mother who supplied the network with a written statement of her son's answer.

I can't believe how dumb the 'authorities' are being

making a martyr of him with the ridiculous extradition thing

and giving the WikiLeaks cause a massive publicity boost

.

O.k. I'll bite. What exactly did you expect him to say, "Alright, I give up". What fun would that be? No, he's going to choke this poor chicken until it's deader than Elvis. He can't let his people see him give up now. No one's passed any new laws about it yet. Hey, maybe this guy will be the moron version of Nelson Mandella. At least you can respect what Mr. Mandella fought for. He stood for peace and freedom, not fear and chaos.

I personnally don't like Mr Assange, but I will admit that he did very little wrong. He did nothing less then many a reporter has done in his day. There is some what of a case for Espionage, since he tried to blackmail and gain power through the documents.

I think mostly he serves himself and being selfless is an act. But that is just opinion.

I don't see why he needs to be held in jail.

Micheal Moore. OMG. I see a South Park episode forming here.

I think the idiot Manning is the real criminal here. He is the one that should be seriously punished.

1. Julian Assange

2. Recep Tayyip Erdogan

3. Lady Gaga

Well, I really can't disagree with you on this one. Mark Zuckerberg is probably even more of a douche than Julian, but not by much. Don't worry, Bee, when ol' jules signs the movie rights to his daring tale of douchebaggery, he'll get plenty of covers on magazines. It'll be disgusting, he'll be everwhere, you'll be happy.

This whole Assange/WikiLeaks thing has a long LONG way to run before the script

for a movie can be written.

Some people in this world MAKE history

They follow their destiny

Because of this they are loved and hated

And there's a fine line between the two
