AwE130 Posted May 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) The Story about the fake Dutch moon rock that was given to the Dutch former PM Willem Drees in 1969 by the US ambassador Middendorf is well known. But that the three Apollo 11 astronauts did hand a moon rock to the Dutch queen during the same visit is never mentioned. This moon rock is disappeared and most likely also a fake moon rock. Dutch news article 9 October 1969 (Nieuwsblad van het Noorden) The last line of the caption reads: Translation: When the astronaut arrived at the palace the Queen received a replica of the message the astronauts left on the moon and a PIECE OF MOON ROCK. +OverSword Posted May 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2015 There is no indication that the moon rock was fake. What it says is that there was a replica of the message left behind on the moon given along with the rocks. Are you one of these that believes man has never been to the moon or are you upset because you read into some vagary that the Queen was snubbed by getting a smaller piece of rock? What is the point of this thread?

Are you one of these that believes man has never been to the moon or are you upset because you read into some vagary that the Queen was snubbed by getting a smaller piece of rock? What is the point of this thread? It is all explained in the articles, nowhere in the articles is stated that the moon landings must be faked based on these fake moon rocks. It simple points out that more fake moon rocks were given away in 1969/1970. Protocols when a head of state are visited are very stricken just ask Obama. What is the point of this thread? Both rock given to the Queen and Prince are disappeared, where are they if they are real moon rocks? NASA told that no moon rocks were given at all away during the visit. That seems strange as the Dutch media reported it in the article above. Imaginarynumber1 Posted May 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Of the 270 Apollo 11 Moon Rocks and Apollo 17 Goodwill Moon Rocks that were given to the nations of the world by the Nixon Administration, approximately 180 are currently[when?] unaccounted for. Many of the Moon rocks that are accounted for have been locked away in storage for decades. The location of the rocks has been tracked by researchers and hobbyists because of their rarity and the difficulty of obtaining more. Moon rocks have been subjects of theft and forgery as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_and_missing_moon_rocks
