hello,

To be honest, I don't know where to start. I have been looking around the internet for a website where I might be able to discuss a certain matter without being ridiculed or laughed at, and I have been looking around this site and have decided I am in the right place. I am telling this story in the hope someone might have had the same experience and may be able to give me some answers.

Can I firstly give you a short back ground. I'm a normal bloke, working in a car factory, company car, four kids, two of them moved out, the other two at home, and a nine year old Grandson. I'm sorry to say I'm a Star Wars geek, but as I tell my Grandson 'It's only because I know that somewhere out there, there are civilisations far more advanced than ours'. I truly believe that. I'm have a massive interested in astronomy and space science and follow the works of Hawkings. I also have very strong beliefs and theories about the Universe and why we are here but I always keep them to myself.

My main hobby is fishing, and it was on a fishing trip when it happened. It was a cold, clear day, just last week, and rather than going fishing I decided to have a drive through Northumberland. I had not been drinking, (I don't) and I had slept well the night before so was not tired. I had also eaten well that morning. I was not feeling unwell and had just spent the day walking around the Otterburn area. It was a cold, fresh day and getting back in the car for the return journey I felt fresh and revitalised. I had been driving for about forty minutes when I suddenly felt strange. I can't describe it accurately, I have nothing to compare it with. I didn't feel real, I had no sensation of feeling, touch etc. Everything around me went silent, nothing at all and stayed that way for the whole duration of my experience.. At one point I actually held my hand up in front of my face to study it. It was as if it did not belong to me, I was watching my hands steering the car and it was as if I was only observing them, I wasn't controlling them. At this point I was starting to panic because I really thought I was beginning to have a stroke. I looked up ahead for a place to pull over but the car in front of me was driving unusually slow, that was when I noticed the car in front was the same make and model as mine. This at first was not peculiar as it is a very popular car. Rather than pull over I just kept driving, my panic subsided but the strange feeling of not being in control of myself remained. Slowly I began to realise what was so strange. It was MY car, my registration number. I thought I must be going mad, but I know what I saw. I actually thought it must have been a c*** up at the DVLA. I caught a glimpse of the driver as he took a right turn. I KNOW WHAT I SAW. I saw myself. It was me, I even had the fleece top my daughter bought me for my birthday, I was smoking a cigarette and flicking it out the window just like I do. I could feel my heart in my chest and hear my pulse. To say I was afraid would not do the feelings I had justice. I watched myself for easily ten minutes, I had to drive over the white line to get a better look as I thought was imagining things. I could see my face in the wing mirror of the car. At a roundabout I had the opportunity to pull up alongside 'Myself', I was expecting to see someone who looked like me and I would have a giggle at my stupidity..... It was me, I was talking to a passenger but I couldn't focus on it's face. I leaned across the passenger seat for better look. I was five foot away from ME. There was no reaction from the occupants, they didn't see me or acknowledge the mad man virtually hanging out of his car open mouthed. The car drove off, but I just sat there, only for about ten seconds. I took off to the sound of the angry driver behind me but when I crossed the roundabout the car was gone. It is a three mile long straight motorway and there was no sign of it.

I am going on a bit, but I just want to give as much detail as I can.

This may sound like the ramblings of a crazy fool, but I assure you I know what I saw. I don't even know what an experience like this is called, but I truly believe in the paranormal, ghosts and all that, I believe there is more to life than just living and dying, whether it's God or even alternate universes I guess we will see one day, but I need to try to understand what happened to me. I hope maybe someone might have had this happen to them and can maybe let me know I'm not mad. I have so many questions, it's all I think about. Is it paranormal, is it something to do with alternate reality, something Steven Hawkings believes could be possible, I don't know. I need some opinions please

That's an amazing story and I believe you for some reason. I have never heard of that exact thing happening to people that have told stories of time related anomalies.

Thanks for replying. My brain is just scrambled at the minute. I have so many theories, explanations going through my head. I have tried looking at it rationally but I know what I saw and how I felt. Every single time I think about it I have a sort of Minnie panic attack. Every single detail is still in my head.

When the doppleganger experiences I had happened, there was a strange element to time. As if it was suspended and for a moment there were two tracks playing at the same time. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to when these things occur except for me it's always when I'm tired or fatigued or have been ill for some time. With you, it seems you were robust at the time so?

You asked for my advice on the other thread but I'm not sure what else to say except "been there, done that". I guess just know that it happens.

Just curious, but how are you at lucid dreaming? I'll explain my question after you answer.

Not sure what you mean. I have dreams but nothing out of the ordinary. I have actually had very strange things happen, just small things. But just once they made my hair stand up. For example I had the radio on and my favourite song just popped into my head. A couple of songs later I switched channels and there was the song just starting. So I had a little laugh to myself and thought it would be weird if my late mother's favourite song came on next. And it did. Weird.

This is something I can attest to from experience as songs is a major part of my daily life ~ my personal experience is a familiar deja vu one day when I was going about my daily activities and something on the radio triggered a 'vision' of sorts ... I saw myself doing the things I was about to do and planned for the day , dream like. The thing that stood out most was the songs I heard playing , it was an Elvis Tune followed by a song by James Taylor ~ when I came to a minute or so later, those two same songs played on the radio back to back ~

You have just described another unnerving similarity to what happens to me all the time; along with a spate of other anomolies. I'm very curious to know about other things that are "strange" that have happened to you. Have you ever had an accident or injury in your past? Hospitalization? Anything like that? How about your family? Do any of your close blood relatives recall "strange" things happening to them?

Welcome to you AlienDNA. My first thought is out of body experience, but instead of floating around bodyless, you experienced it as if still driving the same car with your same physical body.

I've heard of similar things happening to Christians and them calling it a holy vision. It is the interpretation of such a vision that is problematic. Since so much of the interpretation of a vision is based on that specific individuals personal experiences, and knowledge.

What an incredible experience, Alienda.

The mind is more capable and powerful than given credit. It is able to project and produce all those visions.

It is also able to recreate what it has seen in perfect accuracy, but it is not a common thing done.

Our memories are not collections of info, but a generation of the mind by triggers it has chosen. The mind actually reconstructs a memory from that.

I probably would have ran the car into their car slightly, just to make them get out so I could get a better look. That is if I was in your position and was 100% sure that I thought I was seeing myself.

I have no idea what this is, I'm sure someone will come along and give you the answer that a Doctor would, but things like this are just eerie to me.

This is the Doctor answer I was talking about, this is the most generally accepted answer that you will get.

Also this is most likely what happened, although I wasn't there so that call is up to you when it comes down to it.

The other driver who was "you" didn't see you?

I wonder if you had a vision of yourself driving outside of your body., kind of like a temporary out-of-body-experience?

They were totally oblivious to me, there was a passenger but they were blurred, out of focus. The other ''Me'' was chatting away totally normally. I actually drove quite stupidly trying to get a better look but even this did not get any reaction. I thought about blasting my horn at them but to be honest I was a bit scared.

now that I have spoken to people about this and got it out of my system, It is exciting. I want to learn more about this. Questions I'm thinking about a lot is can this happen anytime, can I make it happen, are there people who can make this happen. It was a frightening experience at the time but I am realising what a fantastic experience it was and I think if it happened again I wouldn't crap myself so much. It's actually quite difficult to describe how I have been feeling since it happened. I've seen first hand proof in my eyes that there are strange things happening all around us that nobody can fully understand, but I am sure I will probably spend the rest of my life trying to.

'Out of body' experiences and other hallucinations can happen for a number of reasons, usually some trauma to the brain.

Yes, you could have been experiencing the beginnings of a stroke, but recovered.

It may occur from inhaling poisonous fumes, say from glue, fuel, thinners or paint.

If the brain is starved for oxygen or has an imbalance of hormones, people may have weird experiences as well.

Another reason these experiences occur is if the mind is unable to resolve or process a memory or history of trauma and serious stress. Returned soldiers, accident victims, and victims of human abuse etc, may experience out of mind or body phenomenon, for the same reasons that they may have uncontrolled emotional changes and or panic attacks.

Check out my post here and note that when I was yelling for the girls to get the phone (and they didn't hear a thing through the open door just 20 feet away), the one girl said upon questioning that she had actually entered my room to answer the phone just as it stopped ringing... I did not see her and she did not see me. Yet both events were unfolding at the "same place" at the same "time" http://www.unexplain...pic=232445&st=0 It's the first post on the thread and "the second time" description. In it you will find these anomolies. Also in ghost reports sometimes ghosts will be confused as to why people are in their space and time. Like the two worlds are sometimes protected from each other, but a heavy obsession on behalf of the ghost punctures through that veil now and then...to which the living experience as "a haunting". Of note is that it seems to take a great deal of energy to puncture that veil. Ghosts seem to have only short bursts of this ability and rest periods between. People who channel ghosts are often left drained, stripped of energy or even ill sometimes as a result.

There is a lot of physics involved and we are just barely scratching the surface of it IMHO.

I call it an unusual form of astral projection where you are creating a double and sometimes they can be seen others. It's an awesome experience whether you are the one seeing one or the projector of it! It seems never to be controlled consciously when it first happens. The double has no restrictions in time or space just as the more common astral projection type isn't restricted. People don't realize our consciousness can be developed in many amazing ways to encompass more things then just the physical body and intellectual functions once you connect.

This is very interesting. Not the typical "seeing yourself outside your body" experience.

I have no idea what to make of it, but I hope someone can give you a satisfying answer.

@aliendna.

What was seen was probably metaphorical, so the first thing to determine is what were the differences between the car you were in and the car you thought you saw. What I notice is that the car you were driving had only yourself in it, but the car you watched had a passenger. The viewing was about the passenger. Figure out who the passenger was. This could be about a relative that maybe is leaving (dying), or perhaps a love interest, or maybe someone else, like a co-worker, who "rides" with you (is in your life) on a regular basis.

That is what I think....

Die checker has got me thinking even more now. I agree that the vision was possibly metaphorical, due to the fact that I could not focus on the passenger, but could see myself in crystal clarity, but as yet I cannot fathom why or who the passenger might have been. I may find out one day but what I am struggling with is how I had this vision in the first case, the cause. I'm wondering if it is the work of chemical reactions in my brain, did my mind create, and project this or was it paranormal. Was it a vision created some other way or by some other person whether in the real world or the spirit to warn me, showing me this vision in the hope that I would understand it or was I seeing something caused by physic, time anomalies or slips as I have heard mentioned on here. Was I seeing my future?

On a lighter note, I was very good looking haha.

I think the next time I whistle a tune moments before it comes on the radio, I might just take a look over my shoulder just in case I'm there.

You could go see a hypnotist.... Sometimes they can get you to remember things with more detail.
