[Merged]Crop circles slammed as the work of amateurs

Crop circles with their intricate designs and vast size have become a familiar and stunning sight across the countryside, even if they do not always herald an alien invasion.

But enthusiasts have slammed a series of recent attempts as being the work of “amateurs”, as the number of ingenious creations has fallen sharply this year.

Just 15 were counted in July compared with more than 50 last year, and according to experts they pale in comparison to their predecessors, leading some to rename them “crap circles”.

Yes, this season's crop circles are mostly quite pedestrian. I've seen only one report that might hint at a three dimensional interpretation, whereas such patterns were quite common in the past. One gets the impression that patterns from many years ago, when crop circles were simpler, are being copied and recopied.

It would probably not be productive to revive the discussion about whether there is, or was, a extraterrestrial or paranormal contribution to the crop circle scene. I do note, though, that if there had been such element, and it has now been withdrawn, the results could conceivably be just what we are now seeing. Much of the verve, originality, and 'otherness' seems to be lacking.

If aliens do exist, pretty sure they would show up just to denounce those pieces of crap. Heh, crap circles.

In my opinion there's no much point to keep doing crop circles when it's pretty clear that it was human-made and none gives a rat anymore.
