I saw this on the news the other day & I was sooo sickened by it. It's bad enough when dogs fight other dogs, but this is just out & out disturbing.

And, yes, there were children present at the fights that they were able to tape with hidden cameras. It's too disturbing for words. I can't imagine how this would effect the kids.

Nightmares would just be the start...

I'm afraid that it would make the kids sooo calloused & uncaring for any other living thing that they are creating numerous sociopaths!!! :(:(:(

That is cruel and horrible and disgusting and vile and untolerable and sick and idiotic and mindless and bad and evil! Poor hig, they all should be arrested....What cruel, inhumane treatement of the poor hogs....yes, they are invasive, but they should be tortured.....at the most, euthanized (as they do in Australia, hogs have gone out-of-hand there). The dogs are at an advantage too...a tusk-less hog is nothing against a dog...it can't even bite the quick dog....the stupid people are scared that the tusks will kill there mindless killing machines....its a shame and disgrace that they are raising dogs to fight too...what a waste of life. They all should be jailed...the children are not innocent! They cheer along with them!!

Stupid people...ugh....I hate them...

Nothing!!!

Or about some stupid redneck thing...

Ya know, I'd could take an offense to the redneck comment, but to be honest......but I'm not going to.:no:

I'm a redneck. Anything mentioned in comedy skits by Jeff Foxworthy/Bill Engvall/Larry the Cable Guy/Ron White can usually apply to me or parts of my family

It did look like a big "redneck reunion". I just hope that no one related to me is involved in cr@p like this!!! (My family is originally from around those parts) I didn't claim them then & I CERTAINLY didn't claim them now!!!! :angry2:

Frogfish...

No need to apoligize unless it is for my "misfortune" of being born into a redneck family.:yes:

Actually, I often sit back shake my head & say, "I guess it could be worse. I could be realted to....."***brain kicks into high gear*** :hmm::hmm::hmm: Well, I guess it can't be. ;)

They should at least let the animal keep it's tusks. I don't see how this isn't illegal, though? And it's not very underground if they've got signs posted everywhere.

Anybody ever watch "Soldier" with Kurt Russell? In the beginning of the movie as they were children soldiers in training, they conditioned the children for the brutal ways of life by putting a pig in a cage then releasing dogs to savagely kill the pig. It's a pretty good movie if you haven't see it.

If the dog killed the pig for the fight, that I would accept, because that is just nature. But to take the dog away from the pig, then heal up the pig so it can only be mauled again in a week or so is wrong.

Not if the pig was stripped of all its defenses, so it was totally helpless and forced to suffer without retaliation.

what are the odds of a pig winning? they are put into the pin so dogs can maliciously attack and maul them. i'm pretty sure they raise the dog to fight too. dogs like that are neglected and unloved, probably raised to be a terror.

It is a BOAR and it has its tusks, a very good chance...wild boars have been known to kill humans, dogs, and even cattle...Boars will literally rip you to shreds

nope never seen that but i can recommend "RAZORBACK" (1984)

Imagine a very poor copy of "JAWS" set in the australian outback, surrounded by yokels, the entrance of an animal rights campainer (attractive female of course) all being terrorised by a giant pig with speed to burn!

"Somewhere deep in the Australian outback there's a marauding, indestructible creature that can rip a man in half and destroy a homestead in seconds"

genius!

Reminds me of Hogzilla...the 8 foot, 900lb pig shot in, I think, Georgia...Razorbacks are what Aussies call feral hogs...I think...

That movie also reminds me of "Lake Placid", but thats a different story (alligator)...

Don't know if you read the story, but the tusks are clipped off. They have (zero) chance.

They probably raised those dogs the same way that they riase them to fight each other. They are kept in a dark room and periodically beat with a stick. I won't include all the details as that they are very disturbing. Suffice it to say, after they are driven insane with fear and pain they are then used as fighting dogs. It is an illegal "sport" in Georgia. Those caught engaging in it are charged with felony cruelty to animals holding illegal sporting events, and often running an ilegal gambling establishment. I don't know about the potential charges in other states but, this sort of thing goes on in every state in the United States and every province in Canada. Anywhere that there is a lot of ilegal gambling going on, you can find dog fighting, c*** fighting, and many other types of "Blood Sports".

Unfortunately, it's hard to collect evidence in this kind of case. They are usually held in the middle of the night way out in the country or on a persons farm. Ocasionally, in old warehouses or back yards. Since the farm is private property, law enforcement cannot just walk up on the mans land and arrest him without having a warrent. It's next to impossible to get a warrent without eveidence and nearly impossible to get evidence without breaking the law to get it. If the police were to sneak on to the property, any evedence that they collect would be thrown out of court.

If you know of someone who is involved in this kind of thing, you can inform the local police department and request that your name be withheld from the investigation records. If you are summoned to give testimony in court, the judge will arrange it so that no one will know who you are.

This kind of thing can only be stopped if good people act.

So it wouldn't be nature? How much of a chance does a salmon have vs a grizzly bear? :P Blame nature a bit.

This though is still wrong. The use the pig, heal it up only to be hurt again. That's insane. That should be stopped. <_<

pitbulls who are (trained) to fight,

ripping apart hogs that have had their tusks CLIPPED OFF (by man)

again and again over long periods of time (the hog being kept alive [by man] only to feel pain, for someone elses entertainment)

is not nature

p.s. and as someone already mentioned, a hog has a good chance or hurting/killing the dog if it had its natural weapons.

or, what if say, someone pulled out all of the pitbulls teeth and put it into a fight with another dog?
