David Cameron supports calls for to adopt seperate anthem for England's sports teams; says his personal choice is the hymn Jerusalem

In recent weeks, England has launched a campaign calling to adopt a separate anthem for its sports team during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

A report published by The Telegraph stated that the UK government does not have an official stance on the issue, saying it should be up to sporting authorities to decide what is played before international games.

It's a stirring song.  I much prefer Greg Lake's version though.  His voice is quite powerful and moving, or at least it was when he was with Emerson,Lake and Palmer performing this song.

The government (and especially David -heir to Blair- Cameron) are fiddle-farting around with minor problems (Lord's Reform and Anthems) that are way down the list of concerns for the British people, because they haven't a damned clue what to do about the major ones! Their one and only interest is to cling on to power and to hell with everything else!

There's a strategy emerging here. The Useless Tories and the Lib-Dumbs have kissed and made up over their spat about the House of Lords because it's too far away from the next election to split apart and form battle-lines for the contest. Both parties know full well that as a Coalition they stand less than a dog's chance of being re-elected, so they're going to wait for the right time (pre-agreed of course) before having the final 'divorce argument' and going their own seperate ways.  My God, we seem to fall for it every time!

Stick your damned anthem where Beethoven stuffed his bath sponge and get on with sorting out the economy, the NHS, the treatment of the elderly, unemployment, crime, immigration etc etc. because that's the job you were elected to do and leave musical problems  to the likes of Elton John and Andrew Lloyd-Webber!

i'd entirely support this, although I'm sure someone who doesn't get the point would squeak about having "religion forced down our throats" or the usual kind of stuff ..

Life is a hideous business, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous.
