I have a collection of webcams that I visit when I'm in the mood for armchair traveling. My Antarctica webcam is Scott Base, http://www.antarcticanz.govt.nz/education/2568 .

In my experience this isn't the type of webcam that's interesting to watch on a moment to moment basis. It IS interesting in terms of seeing how different the seasonal & daily light changes are at one of the earth's poles. Like, now (Nov 12) it's summer there and no matter what time you tune in to the webcam, it's always light. At some times of year you get a fantastic sunrise/sunset for most of the day. When it's summer in the northern hemisphere you get perpetual night views lit by electric lights.

I don't think I've ever seen a person on the webcam. It's awesomely bleak all the time.

Adelie penguins are now known as silly chickens.

Emperor penguins are now designated as delusions of grandure chickens

Killer whales are to be refered to from now on as O.J. or Juice for short.

Great pics!

I would never want to go there, it gets cold enough here.

Wow, what stunning pictures..I have always wanted to see the aurora's, but the closest I'll get is from pictures. Reminded me alot of the movie "8 Below", where the scenery was also beautiful, and now I am going to put on a heavy sweater and warm socks to get the chill out...

That was very beautiful and wondrous! I would love to go there one day.

It's amazing what mother nature is capable of and the hearty little penguins

who wander around there all the time just living their lives! And the night sky!

Just breath taking!
