Waspie_Dwarf Posted January 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2014 NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center to be Renamed for Neil Armstrong President Barack Obama has signed HR 667, the congressional resolution that redesignates NASA's Hugh L. Space Commander Travis Posted January 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2014 While it's an admirable idea to honour Armstrong, it seems a shame that Dryden is being pushed out in the cold. Perhaps they might have thought of renaming the Johnson Space Center, since Armstrong was arguably more worthy of commemoration than that fairly unrenowned President. Waspie_Dwarf Posted January 17, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 17, 2014 it seems a shame that Dryden is being pushed out in the cold. Except he isn't. As the article clearly states: The resolution also names Dryden's Western Aeronautical Test Range as the Hugh L. Dryden Aeronautical Test Range. Dryden is a logical centre to rename as it is associated with Armstrong. He was a test pilot there before becoming an astronaut.
+Noteverythingisaconspiracy Posted January 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2014 A great man like him surely deserves it. He never tried to cash in on his fame. He just had a job to do, and he did it brilliantly ! (just like Gagarin before him)
