How do you cope with nightmares. I have often nightmare since my childhood. Now for twenty years they come and go, some months I have more, others I have non. Last night I had apparently one. During my sleep I sang weirdly and I screamed, my housemates heard it and woke me up, it must have been very loud and disturbing. The dream itself wasn't something special. I dreamed that I was in my room and it was cramped with stuff, but I was very afraid (I think I was a child), I was afraid because there were so much stuff? Dunno all I know is I was really really scared in my dream. At one point a blue dragon came to my window, for a moment I felt relieved, after that I was scared again. .....Anyway it annoys me because the people who are around worry and get disturbed.... but personally I am actually used to it (but of course I would like to have lighter nightmares...).. so I was wondering do you have nightmares and if yes how do you make them go away.

If you meditate you can begin practicing being awake while in the presence of your dreams.. this way you can try observing rather than being a part of what is frightening.. being able to do this allows you to still dream and get the message of the dream without being afraid during it... but of course it is practice and a way toward facing dream scenarios which does not necessarily prevent nightmares. Meditation can also releave stress and perhaps release whatever is within you that wants to address itself in your sleep. Praying before you sleep or if you wake up because of disturbing dreams works well. Dreamcatchers are also supposed to eliminate bad dreams but I think this is the same as prayer.. basically a dream filter that blocks unpleasantries.. but maybe you want to look at your unpleasantries and see what they are.

Good luck! :-)

yeah I meditated a lot ... but it still didn't change :P .. sometimes I have these dramatic nightmares xd I guess.... Also when I meditate I feel as if I float so right now I am avoiding it (but still do it sometimes) Also I prefer to meditate in nature (Cernunnos), but right now I am living in a big city :o, so thats not really possible .... Also I have a dream-catcher since twenty years xd. I am not religious I don't pray, but if wake up i call my animal friend and some other friends then I calm down and sleep better. I noticed if I put salt before my door and into the corners I tend to sleep better..... or/and if I smoke various herbs like salvage.... I did that this night and had a good sleep.....

Thanks for your reply xd.... I know you can practice staying awake in sleep but actually that's to much work for me (I am a bit lazy xd)... but I might give it a try

Hi,

I do not consider nightmares a problem. Even the ones that scare me are useful. It is kind of funny that this blue dragon helped you to feel relieved for a short time. He/She must have brought you some comforting energies.

Fear is what you need to get rid of in your life, as I see these things. The nightmares are just 1 example for what fear has created for you. Learning to deal with fear will help with the nightmares and everything else.

If you want to get rid of nightmares you need to get rid of fear. Theres only one way and that is to fight it head on. Be the scarier one :)

I don't even remember the last time I had a nightmare.
