Yes I see. Protecting the plutocracy wealthy 1 percenters with no income tax raises. I see indeed. But then Obama offered 600B in cuts and Republicans only 300B. Repubs are not serious at all. They just play at governing.
Come on. That is the same story you started with.

The GOP proposal would achieve $2.2 trillion in deficit reduction in the next decade, including $800 billion in higher taxes through elimination of loopholes and deductions, slower annual cost-of-living increases for Social Security benefits and a higher eligibility age for Medicare.
The plan contrasts sharply with the White House proposal, which calls for $1.6 trillion in new tax revenue -- largely from higher rates on upper-income earners -- modest unspecified savings from Medicare and a new burst of economic stimulus spending.

Basically neither side wants to back down and they are playing a game of "Chicken". And very likely we'll run right off the "Cliff".
Not sure how you get 60 billion of increased Rich taxes over ten years to "largely" reach 1.6 trillion. That adds up to 600 billion to me.
And what is that last part of the quote?? Savings on the Deficit by.... "A new burst of economic stimpulus spending"? I might be wrong, but doesn't stimulus spending actually increase the Deficit?
And I don't see anything on that Obama side that can be considered "cuts", only tax increases. Who is balanced now?
