Becoming a Christian due to New Revelation

Coming from an atheist family, growing in an atheist society and having a passion for sciences, I couldn't be a Christian for the greatest part of my life... Still that changed dramatically when I discovered the books of the New Revelation through Jakob Lorber and Gottfried Mayerhofer (more precisely, The Great Gospel of John)... This teaching, which is not supported by any church or worldly authority, made me understand how and why God would become man, out of love for us, people... and also, who we really are, what is our spiritual dignity... The message is far, far above any literary or psychological speculation (and I speak this as a psychologist and author), for it contains more than 10.000 pages of countless natural and spiritual facts (some of them being accurate scientific predictions) and it also confirms and explains in detail much of the Christian Scriptures.

So, that's how I came to understand Christianity and to consider myself a Christian (although many would rather consider me a heretic:-))

P.S. In case anybody is interested, some references can be found at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakob_Lorber, www.new-revelation.ro, www.hisnewword.org

You're definitely not from America, "growing up in an atheist society". It's fascinating how inconceivable this is for people with the opposite. I'm atheist myself but I agree that everybody has to find their own path and comfort zone and what "feels right" for them, so I also wish you the best.

Welcome aboard.

Swedenborg also had a new revelation in modern times. He even passed a Lutheran heresy trial successfully (it adjourned without a finding, which is an acquittal).

it contains more than 10.000 pages of countless natural and spiritual facts (some of them being accurate scientific predictions) and it also confirms and explains in detail much of the Christian Scriptures.

Yes, Swedenborg was prolific, too. Swedenborg actually was a scientist; he kept that work separate from his religious teaching, however, as real scientists tend to do.

Anyway, 10K pages invites summary. I take it that this page, linked from one of your links, is satisfactory to you?

BTW, that looks a lot like a "church" website. Swedenborg had no church dedicated to him during his life (as noted, he was a Lutheran), but admirers started one after he died (and in the best tradition of Christianity, that one splintered into divergent groups shortly thereafter).

Also, I notice that the summary page says that the revelation was given to "Lorber/Engel/Mayerhofer" and yet your OP mentions only "Jakob Lorber and Gottfried Mayerhofer." Is that an oversight, or what?
