That future is now. The Navy plans to deploy its first laser on a ship later this year, and it intends to test an electromagnetic rail gun prototype aboard a vessel within two years. Moeyoatey Posted February 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2014 As revolutionary as the rail gun might be, it seems if lasers can already shoot down objects that are going at hypersonic speeds then the rail gun is already doomed for obsolesce.
