Sadly, none of the above. You know politics are bad when you have to choose between the lesser of the two evils. I'm just glad I don't live in NYC. We have enough of our own problems upstate.

Pretty bad when a decent person doesn't want to run. I would have a problem voting for any of them.

I liked the fact Weiner voted against FISA.

It's always voting for the lesser of two evils ,but Weiner is a good politician .

Clinton did much worse ,and he's a political power house . Why is he forgiven ,but Weiner is bad because of pictures ?

Clinton embarrassed the entire country ,and no one even remembers it when they pay him $$$$ to appear or go represent the country somewhere .

His wife forgave him .

Yeah, that's good. He sounds like the better candidate....

Monty Brewster: What are you gonna vote?

Crowd: [in unison] None of the above!

Just by going with he odds I can guess the winner will be an embarrassment to rational New Yorkers and a failure as mayor. My personal pick is Al Sharpton just for the comedic value. Thank God I left that doomed state back in the early '80s and never looked back.

You have to admit that watching that idiot opining as mayor of NYC would provide years of laughs. Bloomberg playing food police would be nothing compared to Sharpton's antics. He could make Calypso Louie Farrakhan commissioner of police and then the cops would have to wear bow ties all day. LMAO.

When your best candidate is Weiner you know the unholy alliance of left wing democrats and the MSM has finally achieved fruition and chased any good person away from politics. We get the leaders we deserve.

Her popularity in the polls has gone down since Weiner entered the race. And all of nyc is biased . We hate her ,just like we hate fuhrer bloombarf . You obviously didn't read the link about her I posted. She should be in jail ,not running for office .

His voting record looks pretty bad to me Simbi. What is it about him that you like? There were a couple things I liked, but I felt overall our differences are irreconcilable,

That's the thing ,he's only half bad. Everyone elses voting records are *worse* .Even Dibalsio who was my only conceivable choice initially .

,and Quinn is far worse .

Has no read the article about her ?

One of the reasons fuhrer b did another term ,aside from his own ego ,is that Quinn wanted to run ,but her slush fund activity came to light at the end of his second term .

She decided not to run ,to use his third term to repair her reputation . Her activity was completely illegal ,and it was just all swept under the carpet by him .

She's the one closing everything in nyc, including hospitals, which all stand empty now, going on 5 years, because she promised all the property to developers for high end condos .

The locals fighting it all, have kept it all in limbo, but if she takes office, everything will go under ,for condos.

The city is already far too overcrowded, and they want to jam another million people in here .

The middle class, aka me ,pays for everyone else.

The poor ,80% of whom are not poor but milking medicaid somehow, and the rich, live here tax free, and we are dying .

Shes the fool who renamed all our bridges and tunnels ,and the namees ,all agreed to back her run for mayor in return .

She strong arms the city council into doing everything she wants. If she ends up mayor ,this place will explode . I'm not kidding.

She's evil incarnate .

There are recordings of her threatening peoples on facebook .

I'd rather have him over any of the others . The others are just more of the same, only not as evil.

And not for nothing,Al Sharpton,a butt of many a joke by me,once upon a time ,has changed a lot. I respect him now.

He's done good work with his office in recent years.

I would also vote for him before Quinn .

Know how you told me you lived in Vietnam and knew more about it than I do .

I was born here . I'm a 911 first responder ,I have met mayor Koch ,Guillianni ,and Dinkins .

I remember mayor Lindsay .

I've watched this Nazi regime slowly ruin nyc . I think I know I bit more about it than you ,but thanks .

And I'm not not biased ,I'm looking at the facts . Quinn is a tyrant ,and I don't want her as my mayor .Wiener is the only one with a chance to beat her ,so I'm backing him .

Her approval ratings have gone way down since he announced, and because of this governor "I'm a prat" Cuomo ,took pot shots at Weiner on the news

This admin needs to end now. If she wins ,its more bloomberg . Again, you didnt read the article about her.

You all do realize she's Bloombergs right hand .

Do you watch his press conferences. She's been standing behind him at all of them for 12 years.

You all make fun of bloomberg ,and tell me I'm biased when she's his butt girl

Activist and documentary filmmaker Donny Moss recently sent WestView a copy of a newsletter he wrote and disseminated documenting the reasons he’s campaigning to “Vote Christine Quinn Out of Public Office.”

In 2011, New Yorkers working on the campaign to educate the public about Christine Quinn’s record had a busy year, with more than 20 protests at her public appearances and 2013 campaign fundraisers. Before the 2009 City Council election, many people in her district told us they were planning to vote for Quinn. Once they looked at her record, however, many were just as dismayed as we were. These voters who paid closer attention are part of the reason Quinn struggled to win re-election in her own district. We believe that our campaign made a difference, and we intend to have a more profound impact in the 2013 election for Mayor. In the meantime, Quinn continues to give people new reasons to join the movement against her:

Human Rights

On December 2, the Human Rights Project at the Urban Justice Center released its 2011 NYC Council report card, which grades Council members on their “record in promoting the human rights of New Yorkers” during the previous 12 months. Christine Quinn received a D+, the second to lowest score. To quote the report: “oth the political power of the Speaker and the reticence of the Council Members to challenge it are inhibiting the advancement of human rights in New York City. The power of the Speaker has delayed hearings, stalled votes and restricted the passage of legislation.”

Example: As Michael Powell wrote in the October 10, 2011 New York Times, “A year ago [City Council] members tried to push through a living wage in the Bronx and to mandate a few sick days for workers. [Christine Quinn] ensured each effort ended up baled, tied and set by the BQE for early sanitation pickup.”

Abuse of City Funds

The Speaker position concentrates an extraordinary amount of power in the hands on one person. As Speaker for the past five years, Quinn has abused that power to advance her political career at the expense of the democratic process and the public she alleges to serve.

Among the most powerful weapons in Quinn’s arsenal are the discretionary funds—tens of millions of dollars that Quinn doles out to reward campaign donors and loyal Council members and withholds from Council members who challenge her agenda. As Jason Farago wrote in a December 15 editorial in The Guardian, “Quinn is not only the most powerful legislator in the city; she’s pretty much the only legislator in the city, and from her perch she has nearly unilateral control over lawmaking. She decides what comes to the floor… and her caucus votes for it, or she makes them pay.”

Example: In March, Quinn strong-armed Council members to vote to rename the Queensboro Bridge in honor of former Mayor Ed Koch. Months later, in December, Koch endorsed Quinn for Mayor—two years before the election. A poll found that a majority of voters (64 percent) opposed renaming the bridge after Koch, and Council member Peter Vallone Jr., of Astoria, spoke out against it. Quinn responded by cutting Vallone’s discretionary funds by $600,000.

To put this political stunt in historical context, the Triboro Bridge wasn’t renamed after Robert F. Kennedy until 40 years after his assassination.

Term Limits

On October 4, Clyde Haberman of The New York Times observed in a piece entitled “Like Putin, Like Bloomberg” that Russia’s Prime Minister “was more scrupulous about observing the niceties of term limits than were New York’s political leaders: Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and his Medvedev equivalent, Christine C. Quinn….” With the help of “complaisant council members,” Haberman wrote, Bloomberg and Quinn “simply changed the law to reward themselves with third terms.”

After the 2008 slush fund fiasco destroyed her chances of becoming Mayor in 2009, Quinn needed four more years to improve her image. But her role in overturning term limits has only further damaged her reputation.

Real Estate Ties

As Kate Taylor reported in the January 5 New York Times, Quinn has already raised more than $4.9 million in campaign contributions. The vast majority of donors who have made the maximum legal contribution of $4,950 to Quinn’s campaign are real estate executives, as are many of the campaign bundlers who have raised more than $20,000. In return, Quinn advocates tirelessly for real estate developers at the expense of her constituents. As WestView readers know, Bill Rudin is planning to build 450 luxury condos on the site of St. Vincent’s Hospital, in Quinn’s district. True to form, Quinn has publicly stated on several occasions that the Lower West Side needs a full service hospital while helping pave the way for Rudin to erect his condos. As of July 2011, seven members of the Rudin family had contributed a total of more than $30,000 to Quinn’s campaign, which may help explain why Quinn not only refused to advocate for tapping into millions of dollars in available reserve funds that might have helped save St. Vincent’s, but also refused to support a community effort to keep the St. Vincent’s site zoned for community use.

Animal Welfare

In its 2009 City Council scorecard, the NY League of Humane Voters concluded that the “biggest obstacle to more humane laws in NYC is the inexplicable opposition to animal welfare legislation by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn,” who has “attacked virtually every effort in the Council to make life better for animals, despite claiming in letters to concerned citizens that she cares about animal welfare and even ‘supports animal rights.’”

Not only has Quinn killed every substantive animal protection bill introduced into the Council, but she has also fast-tracked several meaningless bills that make her look like she’s helping animals when, in reality, she’s only helping herself politically.

Example: A majority of New Yorkers support a ban on horse-drawn carriages. Quinn does not, and she has killed legislative efforts to take the carriage horses off the streets. But in an effort to make herself look as though she cares about the welfare of the horses, Quinn fast-tracked a bill in 2010 that was filled with fake reforms such as banning carriages operators from working below 34th Street, where they don’t work anyway, or between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 a.m., when no customers are out. The purpose of the bill was to grant carriage operators a rate hike, but Quinn only touted the fake reforms in the press, giving the impression that she’s an advocate for animals when she has been just the opposite. In 2011, at least seven carriage horses collapsed, tripped, spooked and died in midtown.

In January 2011, Quinn fast-tracked another bill that makes it illegal for New Yorkers to chain their dogs outside for more than three hours. Quinn admitted that the bill is unenforceable, but she held a press conference promoting this meaningless bill, again giving New Yorkers the impression that she cares about animal welfare.

In September 2011, Quinn fast-tracked another bill that erased a law requiring a city-funded animal shelter in every borough. She did this as a favor to Bloomberg so the City could dodge a lawsuit demanding that it fulfill this obligation. (Shelters are desperately needed in The Bronx and Queens.) Rather than being honest about the purpose of the bill, Quinn added language to it mandating increased resources for existing shelters, thereby making a step backward for animals look like a step forward.

Quinn’s Campaign

How much of Quinn’s campaign is being funded by NYC taxpayers? In the last election, it was a fair amount. In an article in the August 20, 2009 Village Voice, Elizabeth Dwoskin reported that 31 of Quinn’s “more than 90 volunteers” were in fact paid staffers, though Quinn’s spokesperson claimed they were doing the work on their own time.

Quinn has a vast amount of taxpayer-funded city resources at her disposal for her campaign, including a chauffeured SUV. She has the support of Mayor Bloomberg, his paid consultant Ed Koch, the Democratic Establishment and the LGBT community. She has a bully pulpit as Speaker and has the Mayor inviting her to speak at high profile events. But perhaps that’s not a bad thing, because the more potential supporters are exposed to her, the more chances they have to see how much there is about her candidacy not to like.

On our side, we have the truth about Quinn’s record; a public that is becoming more informed about her; several other viable candidates for Mayor; and the will to fight to restore ethics, fairness, democracy and humanity to NYC government.

See you in the streets.

Misconduct allegations

In April 2008 the New York Post revealed [8] that Quinn's office had appropriated millions of dollars to organizations that do not exist, and that the money was then secretly routed to organizations favored by individual council members. In a news conference that followed Quinn answered: “I had no knowledge of it; I did not know this was the practice". Quinn said that she found out about it only a few months earlier, alerted authorities, and ordered staffers to stop the practice, but they did not listen. [9] Quinn hired a criminal defense lawyer to represent her in the federal and city investigations. [10]

Records showed that nearly 25% of those "secret slush" funds went to organizations in Quinn's district, and that two of the biggest recipients of the funds had contributed to Quinn's expected 2009 mayoral run. [11] In September 2011, one of the city council's lawyers reported that the federal "investigation has been closed without taking up any action" but only after two councilmen were indicted at the cost of $100,000 to the city. [12]

Term limits [edit]

In 2008, Quinn backed Mayor Bloomberg on a bill that overturned a public vote from 1993, which had imposed a two-term limit for elected officials, and another vote in 1996 that maintained the two term limit, although Quinn had previously stated she would not support undermining term limits. [13] The Council voted to change term limits and allow the mayor, City Council members, and borough presidents to run for third terms, reversing the results of the two previous public referenda. [14] Bloomberg and Quinn both subsequently ran successfully for third terms. [15]

The Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum, among others, denounced this move. The following year, in June 2009, the City Council approved a 40% cut in the budget of the Public Advocate's Office. Gotbaum declared herself a victim of "political payback" because of her opposition to the changes in the term limits law, [16] a notion Quinn claimed was "ridiculous". All five candidates for Public Advocate showed up at city hall in June to protest the move, [17] and in 2010 New Yorkers again voted overwhelmingly to limit politicians to two consecutive terms.

Christine Quinn: A Campaign Based on Defrauding the Eroding Middle Class of NYC

While I empathize with the perspective or those who have branded the bully of the City Council -Christine Quinn as Bloomberg's fourth term or his 'Mini-Me', I sincerely believe firmly that Christine Quinn represents something far, far worse. In the end, history will judge Mike Bloomberg and his 12 year reign over New York City and his legacy as the three-term Mayor of New York City will be analyzed and deconstructed, determined and written by those with varying perspectives. Bloomberg's governance during a period of global instability and profound economic uncertainty may ultimately be judged quite differently, depending on one’s political perspective or social standing. But I would suspect that the record will illustrate that he had his shining moments, well worthy of praise along with those that border in the nonsensical realm (see e.g.,: the Snowstorm of 2010 debacle, City Time Scandal et. al etc.). Nevertheless, I can acknowledge that he deserves some credit for the relative stability of New York City during this tumultuous period of human history but at what price? In terms of full disclosure, I voted for Mike Bloomberg, with both enthusiasm and then with reservation when he sought a third term.

Truth told, at times, I found myself in agreement with Mike Bloomberg's vision but willingly acknowledge that perhaps I was was comforted by the appearance of bureaucratic efficiency and his leadership of what seemed to be a well oiled machine at City Hall. And yet at other times, like many New Yorkers I questioned his vision for being less than inclusive of all elements of society; elements of which have ailments which philanthropy alone, including Bloomberg's Philanthropy as well as that of other leading societal figures, are frankly insufficient to treat. This is true even with all of Bloomberg’s big checks for meaningful causes. I do, however, resent any attempt to fix or install Christine Quinn as his successor.

While one might be able to challenge the three term Mayor for being out of touch with the common man given his station in life, or that his ego caused him to hold on to the Mayoralty of New York City longer than he should have, that he was engaged in political mishagas with some of his silly policy proposals or that he was maybe too considerate to his plutocratic pals, I would never make the argument that he was incompetent, unqualified, totally corrupt and feeding at the trough. But I would definitely and without reservation or hesitation make that argument as others have rather effectively about the Corrupt Speaker of the City Council, Christine Quinn.

CHRISTINE QUINN IS A FRAUD NOT WORTHY OF THE RIGHT TO LEAD NYC

While New Yorkers are preparing to turn the page on the Bloomberg Era, with a Crowded Field of 10 Candidates from both parties vying for the opportunity to lead New York City, it is important for me to highlight as a Registered Democrat and New Yorker (who was born, raised and lived in three of New York City’s five boroughs) that I do not accept Christine Quinn as a worthy, legitimate or qualified successor to any of our last three or four Mayors, their warts and all. This is true even for those of you who believe even an iota of the media hype and spin that you have been sandbagged with about the nature and import of Quinn's "historic candidacy" and her alleged humble working class roots. Make no mistake, QUINN IS NOT FOR QUEENS - or the Bronx, Brooklyn,Staten Island or even Upper Manhattan but is instead is a throw back to the era of leadership by self serving political hacks whose candidacy is more inspired by Boss Tweed than Fiorello LaGuardia. Electing Christine Quinn would represent a step backward for New York City, not a step forward.

We can certainly complain when political elitists are out of touch with the plight of the every man and woman but what is FAR WORSE is when someone rises to power and obtains a leadership position pretending to be one of us or just like us in order to gain our confidence, duping us all with flowery “of the people” type language and speeches only to sell us all out completely to line her pockets, fill her slush funds, stifle the democratic process and grease the wheels of Crony Capitalism to fill the private accounts of her sponsors.

Christine Quinn is certainly NOT a friend of NYC's eroding middle class, no matter how hard she continues to try to position herself as one with fancy rhetoric, sloganeering and slick campaign ads. Quinn has pursued a policy agenda at odds with the interests of the vast majority of middle income New Yorkers. As one New Yorker from Queens surmised in a letter to the editor of the Queens Examiner: "Quinn not fit for public office."

"Quinn's recent propaganda of her support for the "middle class" is a logic textbook case of equivocation ostensibly purporting to champion the socio-economic aspirations of the working and lower middle classes to garner their votes. Quinn belongs in jail, not in any public office in New York City."

QUINN IS NOT A VISIONARY; HER VISION IS SELF ENRICHMENT: $$$$ VEILED BY IDENTITY POLITICS

Quinn's campaign is a charade, a shell game, if not a complete, total and a blatant fraud upon the citizens of this metropolis. Boss Quinn is a soul less and opportunistic political fraud who cases her deception in the veil of identity politics while manufacturing a contrived belief system on the fly. This woman is too deeply corrupt and fraudulent to lead New York City. Quinn has a record worthy of investigation, indictment and perhaps a prison term but not one worthy of promoting her to lead City Hall. The woman stands for absolutely nothing except her own self enrichment. If there is someone, anyone more "full of ****" in NYC politics than Christine Quinn, someone will have to kindly advise me. Even members in a reform democratic club in her own district know it. Quinn is thus for many reasons, simply not worthy of New York's mayoralty. In Quinn the Democrats have their Mitt Romney, minus the brain and executive experience.

Quinn is a throwback to the era of political hacks. Quinn’s vision for 'Future of New York' City is not based on sound economic theory, a deep understanding of this city’s history or with any sense of urban planning but instead rather is both defined and limited by the politics of self enrichment. A Bully with a Slush Fund wrapped in identity politics is at best what Ms. Quinn represents for 'Future of New York'. That is simply not enough.

QUINN/RUDIN PLAN – BUILD CONDOS TO IMPORT A NEW MIDDLE CLASS OF ELITES; CRUSH THE EXISTING MIDDLE CLASS

The Speaker of the City Council and the media promoted front runner to lead City Hall in 2013 is not hoping to work with a broad array of businesses to revitalize NYC’s existing middle class and create opportunities for those who have already built their lives here. Instead, by focusing the city’s economic engine on enriching her political sponsors to the exclusion of a broader more inclusive economic policy, Quinn will focus on taking care of the interests of folks like BILL RUDIN of the Rudin Real Estate Family and ABNY – Association For A Better New York who got a sweet insider deal on property zoned for community use, the former St. Vincent’s Hospital which he was able to tear down to build luxury condos. Because yes that is what this city really needs at a time when unemployment levels are still high, yet the stock market is reaching historic heights and real estate prices are soaring beyond the out stretched arms of the plummeting middle class. How visionary!

A MODERNIZATION PLAN FOR NYC: A HOLLOW ELITIST UPTOPIA TO ENRICH A FEW

The commonalty of interest among Bill Rudin, Christine Quinn, Senator Tom Duane and Amanda Burden is that they all need a course in Economics 101 because they have no economic plan or vision beyond their hope of turning New York City into some hollow elitist utopia of high rise luxury condos in prolific glass towers in neighborhood's extracted of their essential character. These folks simply do not grasp, simply forgot or do not car about the true import of New York City's rich history, the lessons of Jane Jacobs and the 'Future of New York' she imagined - a place of hope and expectation for the greater majority of New Yorkers, but it will simply and only provide much needed rental income for the Rudin Real Estate Family. Quinnberg's strategy has been and will continue to push current New Yorkers beyond the greater metropolitan area while importing the global elite by positioning New York as a hedonistic playground for the clueless, the soul less, the overly indulgent and the immoral. The Emerald City in the LAND OF OZ is what Quinn and her Real Estate Crony Capitalist pals are working to create.

Under the guise of modernization and advancing societal interests but with no regard for historic communities like Greenwich Village, they will tear down landmark buildings, including humanitarian hospitals, public schools and other properties zoned for community use to build luxury towers. Enabled by Christine Quinn's so called 'Affordable Housing' Plan which was rightfully called nothing more than a 'Multi-Billion Dollar Giveaway' to Developers, they will destroy the fabric of what was once the greatest city in the world to enrich themselves and build their 'Golden Calf' or Tower(s) of Babel.

To quote Tom Allon, "Did Christine Quinn Bet Your Life To Become Mayor?" If we as New Yorkers in all five boroughs truly want to turn a page on the Bloomberg Era then we must turn the page on Christine Quinn and affirmatively Vote Quinn Out.

You seem too emotional to be able to think about it rationally, and have pretty much persuaded me that she is the best candidate, and I admit ignorance. I've only been to New York City maybe a dozen times. Good politicians generally generate the most hate from the irrational. We sure have seen that on this board with Obama.
