I'm tired of seeing the insidious saturation of television glossy adds with famous faces & figures to flaunt them with. It's gotten out of control imo. I believe that we trust these people and they shouldn't be able to sell stuff of the back of their fortunate careers to line the pockets of multi-nationals.

But thats advertising.
I don`t care who stars in the ad, if the product seems good I`ll buy it. But it may well explain why the products the stars are promoting are twice the price they should be., So in that respect, I guess i would rather see Joe No-one in the ad if it means it will be cheaper for me to buy.

What bugs me more are the "celebrities" who bring out fragrance with their names on. They know nothing about real scents and its all just another money making project. The fragrances are naff and basically all smell the same, they contain chemical and synthetic materials and are just air fresheners in a bottle, but hey ho! they sell, WHY? because they are celebrities and the manufacturers know people will buy it because of that reason.
In an ideal World a law would be passed were NO guns were allowed and all those out there destroyed, trouble is the law makers are not going to take a risk of trying to pass that without making sure they are armed first.

But where will it all end? Do you fear for the younger generation or for your future kids etc?

If it's the impact on future generations you're worried about, there are far bigger things on television to be worrying about than celebrity adverts. If people are silly enough to buy something because it's advertised by a celebrity that's fairly pathetic, but it's not doing anyone any harm. It's the reality TV shows breeding generations of children who see 'being famous' as a valid life goal that I would be concerned about...

Not at all, there are far more worrying things in life than adverts.
I  do not even fear for the parents who end up in debt because they "have" to buy everything on credit just to please their child, i just find them somewhat pathetic.

This is done, world wide . It won't end . I could have done without that ridiculous Brad Pitt Channel commercial ,I can tell ya .

The list of American celebrities that do Japanese commercials,is endless. It's the premise of the movie,Lost in Translation .

I've never seen this before . The last of the commercials ,what he's saying is unbelievable actually . He's asking ,"its your private part small ? Drink this, and it will be ok"

Gotta love the Japanese ..

And this isnt including sports figures that do commercials .
It won't ever end

I'm one of those old fashioned people who think celebrity endorsements are somewhat tacky - like their opinions can be bought and sold.

On the other hand, if I were a celebrity and could earn millions by endorsements and donate the money to charity or a noble cause, what would it matter what people thought of me?  I could be a sellout but still influence the world in a positive way.

It's a free market world.

It's a free market so if a company wants to do an ad featuring a celebrity they are well within their rights to do so. Likewise if a celebrity wants to do an ad, be it because they're getting money or because they actually like the product, it's within their rights as well. Not much different then any other ad out there so I'm not seeing what the big deal is.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse...A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

What happens if a celebrity endorses a product, and the product causes harm to people who buy it?

The only issue I have is when Montel Williams or Octomom appear on TV hawking Money Mutual Payday or Octoloans. These payday loans are so destructive to communities they market in and to. They contribute to higher crime rates and place people in further debt. In the end families and cities are hurt.

As far as the OP, well LOL. Really if this is what bothers you then your life must be pretty sweet. 1st world problems are not really problems.

But the solution is simple: watch less TV and go outside!

It works for me, I don't find celebrity commercials annoying because I never watch them. Plus a DVR allowing you to skip past commercials is a godsend.

Would I lie ?
Oh ,that's double indemnity . A virtual idol,AND AKB48 .

AKB48 is the biggest thing in Japan, and shows no signs of slowing down . They made a composite of a,few of the most popular girls . There are always 48 of them .
There's another virtual idol ,who's huge there .No one knows whos parts they used to make her ,but she performs . I will get you links

Yes,the virtual idol does live shows .Her name is Hatsune Miku .

AKB48 are HHHUUUGGGGEE .They ,despite all being idiots ,promote political agendas ,so their fans prefer certain trends . Their fans are mostly nerdy guys, who all go to their shows ,day after day after day .
Check out Associated Acts . They're like a fungus .
A few of them have been in movies . One was a horror movie, that actually showed what one of their shows looks like . I forget the name, but you can find it on netflix. .
