Hey, I'm new here, and I have a story to tell.

When I was about 8 or 9, I started sleeping on an old mattress covered in blankets. We were not poor, we just didn't have a fitting bedframe. I remember each night I was afraid to go to sleep, because I thought if a ghost or demon showed up, I would be unable to get up in time. These fears had no basis in reality, they were just paranoia.

One day, when I was around 10, I went to bed and it was a bit different. The sleep was darker; I didn't dream of anything but the shadow over my eyes; despite having typically 2 dreams per night (that I remembered). When some time had passed, I noticed a bright pink light burning through the shadows. They were writhing away, leaving me with just an image of a bright pink light with a white center.

I opened my eyes, though I was still dreaming, and saw something standing over me. My first thought was "Why am I not afraid?" - it was immediately answered by a warm sense of security. This is when I noticed what was standing over me. To best imagine it, first picture an eye with flecks of pink within its black pupil. There was no iris. Now, see the tendrils of pink and magenta light flowing down, into the floor. It had clusters of violet rings in the points commonly called chakras. There was one in its stomach, one in its heart, one at the center.. They were all over! It had arms of the same pink tendrils, violet rings placed like bracelets. You have now pictured a fraction of how bright it was.

It looked at me, and I swear it was smiling, despite having no mouth. I don't know how long I just sat there, basking in it. Eventually, it slid down into the floor. I cried out, telling it not to leave...

Then I woke up. Now, I would dismiss it as just a happy dream, if it weren't for one thing. When I awoke, pink mist was fading into the floor where it was. I stood up, and sure enough, I was awake; the last of the mist was gone by the time I made it off my mattress.

I don't know what it was.

I don't need to know what it was.

All I need to know is that it was there, and it loved me like a mother loves a baby.

Any thoughts on this experience?

You usually had demons and ghosts on your mind, and then you dreamt of such similar beings.

It was just a dream, nothing more nothing less.

When I have experiences around when I'm in bed ready to go to sleep or have woke up from it, I'm very hesitant to come to a definite conclusion. I have had, what you have had, some form of a situation where it occurred to you, that it happened out of your sleep or dream, but it probably cannot be dismissed as being real, cause the explanation of it being a part of sleep is still there. One thing, that shouldn't be dismissed is sleep paralysis: http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-paralysis

Anyways, I find your experience very interesting. It's the first time I have read or heard of someone's experience of what you described. I usually read or hear about a shadow figure or a person standing over someone. ( a friend and a neighbor of mind from the past told me of her experience in one house, that she woke up to various figures in her bedroom who faded away. :o )

I have heard the differing versions of the good or bad vibes from them. To men in top hats and angry looks, to sweet old ladies in old fashion dressings with motherly smiles on their faces.

I remember, after what I thought was waking up from one dream I had, where I swear my younger brother was sitting in a chair at the end of my bed. And this is when my room was still dark save for some light coming off from my digital clock and my stereo. I remember my hand desperately trying to feel for my side lamp's switch. When I successfully turned on the lamp, of course my brother and the chair he was sitting in was gone. It was a 'huh!' moment. ( I was told my late father had a similar experience with his older brother )

I usually link this to 'sleep paralysis'.

I'm not dismissing your experience entirely to an explanation, but I think it can be explained too. *shrugs*
