Can someone give a backround story about the Bell Witch?

The name sounds familiar, but I'm not sure.

You mean the Bell Witch Haunting??

A little girl was possesed supposedly and had violent spells. Like someone said, they think it was a poltergeist, or the objects moving on their own resulted from the girls' emotional anxiety.

I'm not sure why the 'Bell Witch' would be considered a legend or a myth.

It's a part of TN history and the community encounters was documented in a book. Even President Andrew Jackson had a bit of encounter with the entity...

It effected a community not just one little girl...

It could Not have been just a poltergeist.

It could Not have been just family member playing tricks or tormenting.

Although it is possible that the scary air of the situation gave the opportunity for some tricks and pranks for attention...remember the girls in the Salem Witch Trials?

However, the tricks and pranks 'for lack of better words' that the Bell Witch manifested were far more advanced then just a young girl suffering from angst.

The physical encounters of others, outside the family, their stories are not stories of passing cold spots or whiffs of mist, these were physical encounters.

Of course there is collective hysteria to consider.

Sorry, bout rambling. I've heard about this story all my life. There isn't one possibility that hasn't been discussed in my family, over the past half century, as to the cause of the events in that community....

Well...I lied...I've never heard anyone blame it on an alien!...lol

Demon, ghost, poltergeist, other??? Who's to say for sure? It is bizarre and dreadfully frightful to consider that perhaps an entity can move into an area and cause chaos & murder.

These are Just my old scary thoughts on the subject...

:unsure2::cry:;)
