More than 600 people are interested in buying rundown homes in Stoke-on-Trent for £1 each, the city council has said.

Thirty-five derelict homes, mainly two-bedroom terraced properties, will initially be sold off in the Cobridge area, with a further 89 to follow.

Under the £3m project, the local authority is offering loans of up to £30,000 to help complete essential repairs on the houses.

Potential buyers have until 12 May to apply for one.

I would not buy the whole of Stoke on Trent if it was on offer for a quid!

In an ideal World a law would be passed were NO guns were allowed and all those out there destroyed, trouble is the law makers are not going to take a risk of trying to pass that without making sure they are armed first.

I think it's a great idea.  I guess they are just currently sat there looking ugly.  It's something I would certainly consider if it happened where I live.

Haha, well no, I live in Leeds.  But, it says the people must have lived in the area for a number of years, so it's people already living there that will be buying.  So they already live in that kind of area so it probably seems like a wonderful idea.

I'm absolutely certainly that Leeds City Council would not do the same kind of thing here I'm sorry to say.

I think the Viaduct in Cullingworth went up on the market a few years ago for £1.. now its been transformed into the Great Northern Trail..
