LA Times said:

The venerated Ronald Reagan may not have been able to reach the presidency in today’s Republican party, Jeb Bush said during a meeting with Bloomberg reporters in New York City on Monday morning.
Bush labeled the nation’s partisan bickering “disturbing,” placing much of the blame on the way President Obama conducted his first term.

The Bushes are moderates, they think if you are too far to the right that you will scare away the independents. Because of this, Reagan's success doesn't compute to them, that's why they think he wouldn't succeed today. That's why Romney's going to run a middle-of-the-road campaign that worked so well for McCain. If Romney wins its only because people hate Obama so much.

The truth is that Reagan probably would have kicked the crap out of his own leadership and tried to find ways to make deals.  The reason I think we're screwed is that the politicians have been relying for a couple generations on buying votes with the public's money.  That resource has become almost non existent so sharing it is out of the question, hence.... no deals.

I'm pretty sure he was real. I had the great pleasure of voting for him. Twice. Wish it was more often.

Reagan talked a good game, but when push came to shove he was a big government big spending type of guy after all.

I can't help but think Jeb's setting himself up for a future run at the presidency by painting Romney as too extreme if he loses to Obama.

He will run, but it also looks like he has time. Right now no matter if you win or loose you will look bad at the end. Somebody has to finally clean up Dubya's mess before any politician can look "normal" again. Jeb knows that perfectly.

No, I am saying that nothing is to be gained by any politician while the Dubya inheritance is not dealt with.

I disagree, I say that the current administration is right on target for what the corporate masters who pay for them to be in office want.  But then again I'm cynical and negative, not trusting anyone who would want to do something like be in charge of other people.
