When we were kids we would play
He used to look out for me
We had a lot of fun back then
My brother and me
Two years older than me he was
Not that anyone could tell
We were like two peas in a pod
He always picked me up, each time I fell
The years went by and we grew up
Not kids anymore
Adults now, going our separate ways
Different paths to explore
We said our goodbyes one summers day
As it was time for him to leave
I knew he had to go away
Watched and waved him off, as he drove away
Months passed....two policemen at the door
The look I saw on mum and dad's face...
I knew he wouldn't be back this time
He's gone for evermore
Time since passed, many years have gone by
Since that terrible day
Photographs all faded now, all that's left of him
An album full of memories, I really do miss him.
So here I sit remembering, as I very often do
I wonder how he would look today
Grey hair? beard? he'd be a gentleman no doubt
I only wish he was still here.....so I could find out
Love you always xxx
