Synaesthesia

In it's simplest form it is best described as a ' union of the senses' whereby two or more of the five senses that are normally experienced separately are involuntarily and automatically joined together. Some synaesthetes experience colour when they hear sounds or read words. Others experience tastes, smells, shapes or touches in almost any combination. These sensations are automatic and cannot be turned on or off. Synaesthesia isn't a disease or illness and is not at all harmful. In fact, the vast majority of synaesthetes couldn't imagine without it.

^^^^ That explanation comes from the Synaesthesia Society.

My reasons for starting this thread are...

To work out whether colour blindness is a type of Synaesthesia.

To find out if there's any Synaesthetes on this forum.

A possible explanation for ghosts but the last one comes from Michael Cordy's imagination.

His heroine in the book the "The Colour Of Death" suffers from an extreme form of Synaesthesia.

As well detecting the colour of people's auras she can see murder victims being killed just by attending a crime scene.

That's despite the fact that the murder occurred twenty years previously and that's where the ghosts come in.

For all you know this type of Synaesthesia might not be as fictional as you think.
