Cannabis May Help Fight Prostate Cancer

Compounds found in cannabis may help combat prostate cancer, new research shows.

Active chemicals identical to those in the drug halted the growth of therapy-resistant prostate cancer cells in the laboratory.

They also reduced the size of tumours in mice with the disease.

Scientists in Spain said the research pointed the way to promising new treatments for prostate cancer.

The disease affects more than 35,000 men in the UK each year and kills around 10,000 of them.

But an expert from Britain's leading cancer research charity said the early results did not justify getting high on cannabis.
