Yes, the doctors knew the fetus would not make it and told her so three days before the fetal heartbeat stopped. The really ridiculous thing is they would not leave a women in active labor for three days with a dilated cervix because the risk of infection is so great. In the old days midwives had a saying that you never let the sun set twice on a laboring woman or you will lose both mother and child.
