Firstly to answer you statement…
QUOTE
The Borneo Orangutan is now facing extinction due to deforesting and it is a fact that this animal will be extinct with in the next 30 years.
There is a project that has already started, called the
Frozen Ark Project.
QUOTE
The project, which represents the world's first databank of the DNA of endangered species, is being run by scientists working at The Natural History Museum in London.
The Frozen Ark Project aims to use modern cryogenic preservation techniques to store DNA and tissue samples from all of the world's endangered animals, allowing a valuable reference collection to be established for taxonomists and conservation biologists.
QUOTE
"Progress in molecular biology has been so fast that we cannot predict what extraordinary things may be possible in the next few decades. For future biologists and conservationists and for the animals they seek to protect this global network will be of immeasurable value".
Frozen ArkSo within a few decades we will have the technology and resources to bring back all those lost, or stop their disappearance altogether!
This is now my closing part of the debate! No one can truly say what the future will bring? But mankind has to constantly review each step we take, making sure we protect other animals and areas of our planet as we take each knew technological stride.
Our intelligence has no bounds, apart from limited by our imagination! We have created so many things that we take for granted. Electricity, the light bulb, is just two examples. Could you imaging living without either? And yes man has made some abominations, but the good inventions far outweigh the bad, a million to one!
Mankind need to move forward constantly, stagnation means death - in Darwin's theory. Look how much we have discovered and invented in such a short space of time. Imaging what it would be like in simply 10 years, or twenty, and most of us will be around to see those changes taking place.
I for one am glad mankind as a species are not living in cold damp caves, living from day to day. I am proud of what we have accomplished, and proud of where our intelligence is taking us. But I do hope we gain a little more commonsense along the way to help guide how we treat the world we call home, and the way we treat each other.
Lastly, thanks to Lottie and Disinterested in a well run debate section. And thanks to Imagin for a well balanced debate.(Edited for spelling)
