Any individual that believes it is OK to treat any animal (not just a dog) in this way should be subjected to the same treatment.

He is one of two boxers, two-year-old brothers, which were rushed to a veterinary centre run by the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) for life-saving treatment.

They feature in a new episode of TV3-show Animal A&E, which investigates the 'epidemic' of unwanted and discarded dogs in Ireland.

From the article; "'People are still taking on the responsibility of dog ownership without enough consideration of what it entails,' he said, 'a dog is for life. "

Under English Common Law, dogs, and all non-human animals, are considered property. Until this changes, cruelty will continue unchecked. The only "improvements" we see and can expect is more tweaking of animal cruelty laws. In Canada the government recently increased the fines for animal cruelty. That's it. That's not going to deter anyone from treating their pets or backyard goats as anything different from sticks or stones.
