Realm of Unknown Posted October 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2015 I actually didn't know Imps directly came from hell before this research.. I just thought they were little trouble makers and didn't think much of it. Guess I was wrong there.
Crystal Rose Posted October 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Uh... imps are part of fae folklore.... not demonic. I may be wrong on that, but I don't think so. I will check with a fae expert.
Podo Posted October 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Imps are small devils from Asmodeus' first layer. They have a CR of 1, limited invisibility as a spell-like ability, and can be taken as a familiar with the Improved Familiar feat.

Podo Posted October 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2015 LOL Apparently I offend people really easily. >.> Meh oh well. Lol Well if you want to avoid it, try not saying "no offense" before a statement. Those words add a +5 circumstance bonus to your intimidation roll to makeing things offensive.
Podo Posted October 6, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2015 That's fascinating. How else can I add circumstance bonus to my intimidation roll? CAPS LOCK? l33t? Typing a love poem in a language no one can understand so they'll always be wondering that maybe I was insulting their mother?

Yeppers.. Imps are little goblins, out of German wee folk lore. However, the term imp has been utilized in religious folklore as well, along with a lot of other wee folk. It's been pretty common for wee folk to get transferred to other lores including religious lore, ghost lore, cryptids, and urban legends
Realm of Unknown Posted October 7, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Yep I was right. According to a fae expert, imps are fae not demonic. Your research is wrong. And Jesus is the son of god in Christianity, while not in Jewish lore. There are alternate varies of nearly everything. Research was not wrong, I chose to not mention the fae version as then I would have to explain that in the video as well. If the main focus was Imps, then that would have taken away from the topic. Don't worry though, stuff like fae beliefs, religions and practices are all being compiled into their own videos and topics. I just wanted there to be some separation for more topic focused videos. xYlvax Posted October 7, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Since demons supposedly take different forms and can transform, I'd just say that they're just demons.

Let me rephrase that: more research should have been done. Imps originated in Irish Scottish lore, not mid eastern regions such as Hebrew and Christian views. Now that someone had to bring religion into this conversation I will mention that the Christian church decided to make almost every creature as a demon, just to make their religion and beliefs popular. Now for the characteristics of imps versus demons. Imps are smaller than most fae creatures. They tend around causing mischief and tend to steal things precious to them. They don't tend to harm until angered, then they have been known to cause a few deaths. Demons on the other hand stand tall, most the size of a full grown human. They are full of pride, arrogance, rage (sometimes) and will do anything to anyone standing in their way. While most tend to play in the background only doing subtle things, the more powerful tend to make their presence known. Some have taken humans to their realm. >.> very different creatures.
xYlvax Posted October 7, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Why would it matter? They're all mischievous deviants who no one would actually want.
Crystal Rose Posted October 7, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Why would it matter? They're all mischievous deviants who no one would actually want. Actually limps can be controlled easily plus they don't try to control humans. Some can be really cute even.

Mikko-kun Posted October 7, 2015 #20 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Aren't at least some sects and whatnots of christianity labeling everything spiritual and semi-spiritual and such as demonic & satanic & hell-origin heretics? I suppose this is one of those questions where answer really does depend on who you ask.
Mikko-kun Posted October 7, 2015 #21 Share Posted October 7, 2015 I do. Are you sure you're talking about demons and not people? Or possibly government officials? I recall government officials were once humans, possessed by their demonic nature to such extent they became reptilian-like shapeshifting demons from atlantis, right? Should try some holy water at them...
