Big Bird

Like any entitled welfare addict, if you want to hear some squealing from Big Bird, all you have to do is hint that after decades of being on the government dole, maybe it's time to get off the taxpayer teat and take care of yourself.

Heaven forbid.

Yeah however The money big Bird brings in doesnt go to PBS which is what Romney plans to cut. That money goes to the creator's and owner for Sesame street which is not PBS. A bit misleading there. At least that is my opinion.

Yes, but the idea that Big Bird would go away if PBS were shut down is ludicrous.

How can you tell which spent dollars were borrowed from China? No borrowed money goes to the immensely bloated military / industrial constipation? .. and Sesame Street dollars are all chinese debt? do they look different?

Mittens says he will ask the question.. ' is this program worth paying for with money borrowed from China ? ' ... he's just promoting hack and slash fever. He doesn't want to cut ANYTHING that profits the fat rats.

Since when 'Sesame street' teaching children to share is something "political" or politically charged to preach to children left-wing socialist propaganda? <_< The GOP should let their kids watch TBN or 'David and Goliath' made back in the 1960s no longer in production instead.

Most of PBS is funded by corporation sponsors donate their money to some programs and the network anyway. PBS is similar to yet different from government-sponsored channels (the BBC, CBC, France 2, NHK, Televisa and so on) to receive donations except PBS isn't owned by governments. TBN is based on callers' donations the same way like PBS in their pledge drives...and anyone can start up a privately-owned publically-funded TV station, like religious-themed networks refusing any government funding.

PBS got 26.65 million in 2012 from the money that goes to The Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I'm sure cutting that would make a HUGE difference on a 3.7 trillion dollar budget.......

Even an average debater should have picked up on this stupid remark. Obama's impromptu skills were at ZERO during this debate, and may be all the time, if you believe all the teleprompter jokes.

If you can make the audience laugh at your opponents plan, you can have no plan and still win a debate.

We already know this government is hopelessly broken and on life support, likely until the bitter end. The last thing we need is to be reminded of it, except perhaps in the past tense, which is what Clinton did at the Convention. That generates some hope without lying.

I would have laughed and replied, "Big bird?" <Pause> "I guess he's one of the 47%" The debate would have been over and Obama would have been declared the victor, but he is way too slow on the draw.

He needs to fire his debate team and bring in some fresh blood ... to include a few comedians to teach him some impromptu skills ... if that's possible.

The country needs to laugh right now, a lot more than it needs to cry over numbers that mean nothing to the average person.

This is a ridiculous thing to worry about. Anyone remember that shizz is still getting real in the Middle East? And we're worried about some guy in a giant yellow bird costume? American priorities!

So the guy with the best one-liners and zingers = the guy most qualified for the most important job in the country?

This country has been laughing for waaaaayy too long, and needs to sober up and take a serious look at the "numbers that mean nothing to the average person" or we will be crying for decades to come.

Half the economic battle is confidence. Corporations are sitting on a trillion in cash, and holding the country hostage. Those are the numbers I want to hear, not how cutting education, including to Big Bird is part of the problem.

If we spent half the money wasted by the Republicans in Iraq and Afghanistan, on educating our young people, we would devastate the enemy without firing a shot.

Money spent on education isn't socialism; it's how you build a future through confidence.

Romney thinks half the American people are slaves, with little or no interest in improving themselves. He is wrong. We all have dreams, we all want better lives. That's the human capital you invest in. Invest in the dreams of slaves, and the engine will roar to life.

So what if China stops loaning U.S. money. I'm sick of buying their products anyway. If there's one thing I learned from the Asians, it's that business is war. I vote we declare bankruptcy and let them cry.

ROMNEY brought up big bird not the president. ROMNEY vowed to kill PBS funding even though it's .00014 percent of the budget. ROMNEY is the ridiculous flip flopper who takes all positions.

Yeah and once the media starts to pick it up, the left run with it. Obama starts making jokes about it, Saturday Night Live does a Big Bird. So it's out with Warren Buffet's secretary, out with Sandra Fluk, out with Bain Capital, now reference to Big Bird suddenly becomes the path to success. What does that tell you about what the left thinks of its voters? Is this what Obama and FrankenKerry were discussing in their practice debates? Why do you think Romney turned down an appearance on the Nickelodeon special while Obama accepted it? Maybe when you were a toddler, Big Bird was a key issue, but don't you think there are other matters to address now?

It tells me that Democrats care about Public Television and the 99%. While plutocrat Romney cares about himself, the 1% and his money in the Cayman islands. It tells me that Romney doesn't understand anything he;s talking about. The money to PBS is minuscule. It tells me he is completely out of touch with America and will say ANYTHING to pander to conservative voters.

Well if the Democrats think this is a winning issue then they should run with it, they will get farther with Big Bird than they will with the prophet video.

You do realize that Obama called himself part of the 1% during the debate right? And you do realize that PBS among other things were a means of Romney making a point about our spending... Your constant attacks on some ones wealth makes you sound jealous and desperate... and as far as some one "pandering" to voters... Obama capped that 4 years ago.. as well as every other politician on the face of the planet... pandering is how you get the votes... if you think otherwise you have completely lost the plot.

Yes I do and he is. The problem is that you and many others have no earthly idea just how much difference there is between the paltry millons that Obama has and those who hide money in the Cayman lslands.

The desperate are those bringing up Big Bird as something to cut. It's not significant. Why not talk about the real cuts.
