"American Neil Armstrong went down in the history books when he became the first astronaut to walk on the moon in 1969. Now, behind-the-scenes photos reveal the extraordinary training that astronauts such as Neil went through to prepare for the momentous expedition.

They were suspended from a 200-foot-tall, 400-foot frame called the Lunar Excursion Module Simulator (LEMS) in 1963. The high-tech simulator artificially created an environment similar to that which the astronauts would encounter on the moon."
