Why would there be a mass spiritual awakening on a date set by a culture that was anything but spiritually awake?

IMHO, the only spiritual awakenings to happen in 2012 will be "I got sucked into the fraud", then wait for the next fraud to come up, Apophis or a revised Mayan calendar date by some other con artist selling more books... Round and round we go
