Cocoa plant dates back 10 million years

Chocolate is much older than previously thought - dating back 10 million years, according to new research.

The study suggests that the cacao tree - from which chocolate is produced - was around 10 million years ago.

Chocolate is produced from seeds of the cacao tree Theobroma cacao, but as worldwide demand increases there are fears the multi-billion pound industry will fail to cope.
