Black Hound Posted January 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2010 NICE PLEASANT COUNTRYSIDE THAT I HAD THE CHANCE TO TAKE PART IN REENACTMENTS AT FOR SEVERAL TIMES. BRIEFLY, MORE MEN WERE CASULATIES THAT DAY IN sEPT,17, 1862, THAN ON ANY OTHER SINGLE FIGHTING DURING THE ENTIRE WAR. GHOSTS AND STRANGE PHENOMENA ARE SILL GREETING PARK SERVICE STAFF AND VISITORS TODAY THOUGH MOST STAFF ARE LESS THAT EAGER TO GO INTO IT.DETAILS OF THE BATTLE ARE QUITE EXTENSIVE AND I DOUBT THERE ARE MANY HIISTORIANS ON HERE THAT ARE DYING FOR SPECIFICS. ANYWAY, THE SOUTH WAS DECLARED THE WINNER.LETS SAY 25,000, PLUS OR MINUS, WERE KILLED OR INJURED, MISSING IN ACTION, OR SIMPLY VANISHED. LOTS OF VISIORS, INCLUDIN MYSELF, FOR THAT WAS ONE OF MY POSITIONS,EXPERIENCE A SENSE OF , WHAT SOME WILL ADMIT TO FEELING A SENSE OF "COLD DREAD" WHILE TOURING "BLOODY LANE". THE BODY COUNT WAS SO HIGH, ONE COULLD WALK FROM ONE END OF IT TO ANOTHER WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GROUND. THE BODIES WERE OFTEN PILED SEVERAL FEET HIGH. THE WAR CRY OF THE IRISH BRIGADE CAN SUPPOSEDLY STILL BE HEARD AS THEY ATTACKED "BLOODY LANE". BURNSIDE BRIDGE IS STILL HAUNTED, AS IT WAS THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE.THE OFTEN SEEN "PHANTOM WOMAN" STILLS HAUNTS THE PHILLIP PRY HOUSE. PHANTON FOOTSTEPS ARE AWAYS HEARD ON THE STAIRCASE THERE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE HOME EXPERIENCED DURING RESTORATION IN 1976. ST. PAUL EPISCOPAL CHURCH WAS USED AS A CONFEDERATE HOSPITAL AND SCREAMS FROM SURGERY, THE MOANS OF THE DEAD AND DYING ARE STILL HEARD THERE AND MYSTERIOUS LIGHTS, AS YET TO BE EXPLAINED, STILL FLICKER IN THE CHURCHE'S TOWER. THE SOUNDS FROM THE CHURCH WILL GIVE ALMOST ANYONE CHILLS BUT ONE DOESN'T SEE A LOT OF FULL BODY APPARITIONS OR MISTS, FLOATING ABOUT, AND WHAT IS SEEN ON THE BATTLEFIELD, IS NOTHING YOU CAN BE SPECIFIC ABOUT, AS YOU CAN AT GETTYSBURG, FOR INSTANCE. VISIT IN THE SPRING OR FALL, AS IT IS TOO HOT IN THE SUMMER AND LITTLE SHADE ON THE "INTERESTING SITES" OF THE BATTLE LACK SUFFICIENT SHADE, THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE. randomhit10 Posted January 9, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2010 there are many great sites all over the east like this one also...one that i have found very interesting is Andersonville, Ga....it was the site of a confederate pow camp...very hard life for all...one of the most interesting stories is that during one summer there was a severe drought and the pows had no water...they held a mass prayer service and later that night a storm began to blow in the area, lightning struck the ground inside the camp and water came out of the ground...there is a monument built over it now and the water has never quit flowing since lightning brought it forth... many stories about seeing ghosts even in the daytime among the rows and rows of graves from the fallen soldiers... randomhit10

Therefore, many sightings and apparations have sprung up regarding anything to do with it. IMO, the cival war is a great starter point for anyone interested in becoming a paranormal investigator.
