Anti-tank missile injures six children in Neve Dekalim

10-year-old boy sustains medium injuries to face and stomach, five other children lightly wounded. Earlier, five Kassam rockets target human chain participants.

Amir Buhbut

Palestinians fired an anti-tank missile at the community center of the Gaza settlement of Neve Dekalim this (Sunday) evening, injuring six children. The attack took place while some 130,000 people joined in a human chain from Gush Katif to Jerusalem to protest the disengagement plan.

The children, who played outside the community center, were hit by shrapnel. A 10-year-old boy sustained medium injuries to the face and the stomach, while the others, ages 7 through 10, were wounded lightly. Magen David Adom teams transported four of the children to the Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva. The rescue teams said only a miracle prevented a deadly outcome.

Earlier in the evening, five Kassam rockets fell near Nissanit in Northern Gaza. IDF officers said the attack was targeted at the human chain participants. Later, another Kassam hit a house in Neve Dekalim. No injuries were reported in both cases.
