‘Grief Retreat’ in January 8-10thth 2016

Every January we have a ‘Grief Retreat’. It is a one of the more difficult retreats that we have. When people come they are struggling with their losses. In Jan of 2014 a young woman attending the retreat, wanted to speak to me about her journey after losing her daughter. She was intelligent, faith filled and able to express herself in an eloquent manner, both in how she spoke but also in how she was able to write about it. I was so taken by her writings I asked her if I could use it for my next talk. She said that was OK. So when we met for out next meeting I spent an hour using her insights in to the reality of the arduous journey we all walk when we lose someone dear…especially that of a child. Her insights were well received. I had not thought about her for a good while, but three days ago she came to mind and I wondered how she was doing. The next day to my surprise, the retreat-house got a call from her. She wanted to come and help out with the grief retreat. I was after talking to her to for a bit, invited her to come and be one of the presenters at the retreat. I am looking forward to having her help me, or perhaps I will be helping her.

We all have loss in our lives. The longer we live the more they add up. We lose parents, brothers and sisters, friends, then there are the other loses that we have to deal with. Loss of jobs, of health, break up of friendships and marriages. Some come here seeking healing from having an abortion. The list of our losses is longer than this one. So Emily I believe will be a great help to those who attend the retreat.
