MOAB, Utah (AP) -- A Colorado climber amputated his own arm Thursday, five days after becoming pinned by a boulder, and he was hiking to safety when he was spotted by searchers, authorities said.

if there was a meteor,
adrift amongst space,
set about on a collision course
not with Earth, but my face...
i wonder if id even know,
at what time i might,
be passed off like an old style
and by the meteor be smite?

Brave man. Hope he recovers OK
I guess he will as  he had the strength (mental and physical) to save himself.

He's made the news in this part of the world!

My sons reckon that is soooo gruesome but he must be a
very brave guy. (Also some sick kid humour was mentioned
-they are 9 an 10 after all- but  I'll spare you all that...)

That's an amazing story. I don't think I could ever do that, and hopefully, I will never be put in a position that would make me decide.
