Still Waters Posted May 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2016 A mother and daughter missing for four nights in the New Zealand bush were rescued after they used sticks to spell out 'HELP' in a clearing. American hikers Carolyn Lloyd, 44, and daughter Rachel were starving, dehydrated and freezing when they were eventually spotted by a helicopter in Tararua Forest Park, north of the capital Wellington. "(Doctors) told me I had hypothermia, and a couple more hours and I probably wouldn't have made it," said Rachel, 22, from her hospital bed. http://news.sky.com/...giant-help-sign

freetoroam Posted May 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Sorry, 4 days? do they not mean 4 months? "At this point we kind of knew I was failing health and I was on the verge of dying," Again? after 4 days? Next time girls, take a compass, or better still, never go hiking again. They were surrounded by greenery and water and yet spent their time making a help sign? Misread the trail sign??? had no food or fresh water supplies, even for 1 day they should of had water. I just can not fathom these 2, people have faired better in the desert. How could they possibly get SO much wrong in so little time?

freetoroam Posted May 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2016 ONE night of cold can kill you. She had hypothermia. Yes, in the arctic. But seriously, these 2 seemed so unprepared, even for 1 days hiking.....but to lose "hope" after 4 days? They really do not seem like the hiking type. Hope they will not try this again.
