The economies of most countries have been in the gutter since the floor collapsed underneath our greedy bankers. It's not just a US problem, and can hardly be blamed on a US President who wasn't even in Office when it happened.

They most certainly can. He continued bad policy, no he continued the thieft of the American people. He continues to spend billions on unjust wars, and he continues honoring unfair treaties that removed producing jobs off shore. He's the president, why do people act like he has no power to make real "change". The guy writes up executive order after another to tighten his grip on the police state he's continuing on Americans, but when he does nothing to fix the real problems in this country you think he cant be blamed?

No disrespect intended, but screw who is at fault..All of them in office and we are to blame..We sit and bit-- about what they aren't doing but then do nothing ourself to insure it 'gets changed'and our government do what it is intended to do...We're in the worst recession/depression since the 30's and nothing is really fixing it. What took place in this country right at election time created the domino effect of the world's near financial collapse and talk of using the euro as the "new money" measure shows the in-source of those who would love to see this country fall....Obama was the hope for change and unfortunately until all "has been politicians" are voted out of office we will continue to see more of the same...Jobs (production, as pointed out)is the real answer here, not stimulus this or that..Not rescuing the banks, Wallstreet, the insurance industry that would just as soon take our premium while wishing us dead so they never have to pay out on you, not Corporate America who has learned its easier to get rid of people and over-burdon those still working while they continue what little benefits there are left...All these measures taken and justified to "keep jobs' of the people obviously didn't work..and isn't working in trying to jump start a job market that doesn't exist now..and as we speak and write, stocks again are dropping quicker than our pants and guess what-- we're being screwed over all over again!

Ah, but wasn't it The One who promised that if we passed stimulus unemployment would not go above 8%?

Wasn't Obie telling us how the economy was on the rebound a few months ago (right about the time he was telling us he didn't know much about the incident but that obviously the police officers involved acted stupidly)?

And production too...we need something to sell.

Thank God the unions are here to prevent any production plants from actually getting built or existing ones from tooling up! Yaaaay unions! Protecting Americans from actual work! Wooo hooo! :tu:

I know its been bad, I have been here watching MSNBC ignore it while they keep writing rosy stories about the economy. I never at any point said the economy was good, I know better. I am just pointing out that now even MSNBC has been forced to smell the sewage.

They were not reporting on it, they are my homepage and this is the first story I have seen about how bad the unemployment is, nor did I ever expect them to admit that it is possibly higher then the official numbers.

Even now it was still buried and was not a headline story.

Ignoring it and not reporting it is the same thing as hiding it to me.

Up till your post where does anyone blame Obama? I did not blame him, nobody else blamed him up till your post, and the news story does not blame him. My post even had nothing to do with Obama. Why do you bring him up when he wasn't even a topic in this thread?

Umm yes it was, the economy has been crap since Bush took his 2nd term, and got incresingly worst until he left office. Obama can't be expected to fix over 4 years of mishaps and bad spending in one year

Noticed you didn't address either question. Why is that?

Now, let's see... what happened during Bush's 2nd term? Oh, yeah! The Tax & Spend Dems took over Congress and the checkbook!

I wonder how long we can drag that line on for...from hes only bin office for sixth month...now can't do it in only a year...so what four years will he get it by then? If it takes that long to change it then how can we blame only Bush for ruining it because "You can't ruin a economy in only 4 years"

So we should really set a timetable on the limit of time needed to change an economy.

No the never hid anything, just gave you the idea that we were on the road to recovery. like company earnings, yes they have been getting a little better but if you look at how they did better, its because they did alot overseas or all the costs-cutting. they kinda hid from how bad foreclosed homes were, bankruptcy, the falling dollar just to name a few.

Well it took more than a year to get in the situation, so obviously it would take longer than a year to resolve the issue. What gets me is that some of these same peope that have the clock ticking on the current Pres. sat back and said nothing as Bush, and other factors dragged the Country down to the recession they are expecting Obama to miraculously dig us out of so quicklyrolleyes.gif

The recession didnt begin till near the end of Bush's finnal term. His bailout is what started the tea parties. So to say we just sat back and did nothing is, well, lets just say its wasnt a informed comment. Another thing, the economy will NEVER get fixed the way 0bama is going about it. He is leading us right off a cliff.

I'm no economist but it would seem quite clear that the biggest contributing factors would have bin in play long before Bush took office. Seeing as the economy became a big concern halfway through his second term that indication seems to be you can destroy a world economy in some 5-6 years...which to me seems a quite bit ridiculous.

So to blame Bush for not saving the economy, to blame for possibly adding some to the mess...sure but to blame him for the whole recession and put the responsibility of saving soley on one man's shoulders is silly.

Nonetheless, the line is old and no longer works. Bush didn't really have 8 years for the economy, it was more like 2 considering that is when the shitstorm started happening. You can blame him for 'not seeing it coming, or doing nothing to prevent it' but then you would have to admit the same for Clinton as well.

Of course there are those who criticize Obama's effort on the economy while giving Bush a free pass(or worse ignoring and claiming the economy was fine and there was no recession). But that bias works both ways as the left held no mercy criticizing Bush's war effort but either ignore or accept Obama's effort to more or less continue the wars.

Hmm, now, where did the economy start unraveling? Banking and the housing market. And where did these two intersect? Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. One of these was being run by a good friend of The One, who walked away with $$$$ in salary and bonuses as people were defaulting on the mortgage loans they should never have gotten since they never had the money or the credit histories that suggested they could pay back the loans. And it was Dems who protected Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac during the reviews of their performance. Does the name Barney Frank mean anything to you? And who was it that passed the laws that required banks to loan money to people who could not pay it? Hmmm, the Dems again. Oh, yeah, of course it was Bush's fault. After all Bush was an absolute genius who could manipulate the craftiest of Dems and could also manipulate space and time--and hurricanes--at his whim... oh no, wait, Bush was a blubbering dummy who didn't know his left from his right... no, hold on, Bush fooled Hilary, Kerry, Colin Powel, the UN, French, German, Israeli, and American intelligence services into believing Iraq had WMDs... no, no that can't be it, Bush was so stupid we have pictures of him reading books upside down, looking through binocs with their covers on, and talking into the speaker part of a phone, couldn't have been him... oh, no, wait, wait....

Yeah, one of Obama's friends benifited from the mortgage crisis, as did countless other's....what's your point?rolleyes.gif

And yes it is true that Bush was a bumbling idiot, that convinced other politicians and the rest of the Country that Iraq had WMD's because he preyed on the fear and vunerability Americans felt after 9-11, and used it to launch us into a pointless 8 year, $10 billion dollar a month Warthumbsup.gif

You really believe that George Bush could actually convince anybody of anything?

So the day Georgie walked into the CIA(and every other agency that thought Iraq maybe had weapons)and told everybody there "Hey fools Iraq has WMDs!" and the CIA was all like "Um no they don't", how did George Bush the man everybody on the far left thinks is a functioning retard convince very well educated and very well informed CIA officials that they where in fact wrong and Georgie was right. How did he pull off that trick? How did the conversation go?

I mean which is it...is Georgie an incompetent idiot or an ingenius mastermind?

Hint: He was neither, he was given intel by multiple sources stating Iraq could have weapons, couple that with the possibility that they were maybe harboring terrorists, coupled with the power play for oil...he made the decision to go to war(and then have it Fed up)

OK, fair enougnyes.gif. That still comes down to the fact that Obama is not to blame for the current state of the economy as it was down the tubes long before he took office, therfore no one can fairly expect him to fix things in a year......
