New News System And Usergroups

A new news system has now been implemented, completely integrating the news on the front page, with the "News, Discoveries and Findings" board in the forum. Any news posted to the forum will be automatically shown on the front page, eliminating the need for news submission scripts and the like.

Features of this new system include:

- Fully working comments system, based on replies to the equivalent forum post.

- "News Archive" option, features the news board as an archive of previous news.

- Viewing the full article now takes you straight to the source site.

- "Source" site added to each article to give proper credit to the news providers.

- "posted by" now displays correct name rather than "news-bot"

- The time of an article's posting is now displayed as well as the date.

I have also added two new user groups to the forum, "Moderators" and "News Posters". The Moderators group has Magikman, Tommy and Mentalcase in it - Moderator usernames will now show up as blue in the on-line list.

The News Posters group is a new concept relating to the new news system. Since new topics posted to the news board will appear on the front page, posting new topics there has been restricted to a usergroup of News Posters, who will be the only members permitted to start new threads in the "News, Discoveries and Findings" board. News posters will appear green in the on-line users list.

Moderators and Administrators can post new threads on the news board by default, and all users including guests can post replies ( comments ) to existing threads there.
